Williams College for Internationals?

hopeman,
"we had 15 korean kids this year": by this do you mean 15 korean-americnas? in the whole school or just in your class?

In the class of 2009, there are 13 Korean-Americans (Green Card, Citizenship) and 2 Korean citizens.

hopeman,
what are your extracurriculars?

i have a lot to ask...
hm, shoud i PM you or email you?

only 4-5 internationals can get in under ED to Williams College every year.

hopeful, very hopeful.

im not doing ED..
but RD is also pretty darn competitive, right?

"w.record says they have 58 international applicants for early round..think it's worth try since they accepted more than 12(?) last year ^ ^ good luck to you hello123 hope we both get in kk"

not true. I'm pretty sure they only took 5 international from 4 countries(Canada, China, Korea, and ?) from the ED pool last year.

that's it?....

And what's worse, it's almost predictable. The year before last, they took 4. And it seems every year there will be successful ED applicants from China, Korea and Canada, so you can figure out the chance for the rest countries.

how about RD?

.... dot dot dot.
what a life.

Woo hoo! Go internationals!
We can do this together!

every top and affluent college is tough for internationals. You know they have to reject other 8-9 equally competent students to take you in.

Don't do RD.. i think last year.. RD pool was like.. 920 or something.. and only 60 were accepted. (If I remember correctly)

Not true.... The acceptance rate for internationals at Williams is 10% (I got this number straight from the horse's mouth)

http://www.williamsrecord.com/wr/?view=article&section=news&id=6244

For early decision, the international student acceptance rate last year was 14/50 or 28%.

yup.
last year- 14/50
i heard it was 4 or 5 the year before last year.

and thanx for the reply hopeman

10% isn't TOO bad.
28% surely sounds better though.
it's too late to do ED.
it makes my heart drop.

yeah hopeman i was talking bout you:) hope you're enjoying yourself there now.... i'd kill to be there w you guys now.

the thing bout williams is that the people at admissions know that many prestige-obsessed intls are using the college as backup to HYP, which explains why the ED acceptance rate is neary three times that of RD, because those guys who do ED are unquestionably serious about the college. also, those who do ED are often of a better fit, which convinces them to do ED in the first place.

Man.. sixsixty.. i think you will really love this place. Kids are just sooo smart & talented lol. It surely made me feel very very average haha.

hmm, when do internationals living outside america receive the decision letters by email? when did they get them the last time?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kee10, i think last year they got the e-mail on 14th, so yes, it's today.........

hopeman, i'm trying to not to think bout it.. it's a long while before i actually get to go:)
