I am not sure if this topic was covered in previous threads (I tried to search, but I couldn't find anything), but is it safe to assume that receiving an Amherst Early Write acceptance is more difficult than receiving a Williams Early Write acceptance? Could the school's early write policies be completely different, namely Amherst's for the Truly exceptional students competitive for the Iv Leagues? I'm getting worried as the days are closing toward Late-March.

Do you believe that an acceptance through one early write might mean an acceptance through the other?

I'd appreciate any comments, tangents, etcetera.

Chill out. You're reading way, way too much into an early write admittance. Early write at both schools is just like RD except you get it before April 1. Its a marketing effort by the schools to make you feel good about them so you may give them extra consideration when making your decision on whose offer to accept.

I know that this is a time of uncertainty and that can be very hard to take. In that respect, its nice to hear earlier rather than later, but the letter, whichever way and from whichever school will come. There will be many acceptances mailed on the RD date. You'll just have to be patient.

Son received an Early Write at Amherst, not Williams. In the end he matriculated to Williams. Seemed to be a better fit. Hope this alleviates some anxiety. proudmama

it all depends on your circumstances sony. Remember.. although your merit is extremely important for the admission, colleges, especially small ones, are building communities. How they might define exceptional students will change according to changing needs and circumstances.

I got an Early Write letter from Amherst and I just found out that I got into Williams a few days ago (though I'm not sure if it's also Early Write). I was first called and then received my admissions packet the next day in the mail. I assume, since my William's acceptance came before April, that it's also Early Write. Anyway, I'm definitely visiting them both before I make any decision. I'm also waiting on some Ivy League decisions in April. I just hope that, IF I get accepted into Harvard (or any Ivy for that matter), that I'll still consider Williams and Amherst. Good luck to you all! :D
