Williams ED 2019

Hey guys. Just wondering who's applying to Williams ED this coming year. So excited! Definitely my dream school...

I think I am!!

That’s great! I love everything about the school. Right now, I’m still trying to decide between Dartmouth and Williams as to where to apply ED. I love both schools equally, but they both have aspects about their respective social lives that worry me…

@hdbrill I was actually in a similar boat, but Williams seems to be calmer and quirkier as of social life. To me, Darthmouth seemed to have more of a “study hard, party hard” attitude, while Williams also had an artistic side to their downtime.

@asdfghjkl64 Yeah I definitely got that vibe from Dartmouth (especially considering that 51% of the student body is in Greek life). However with Williams, I am wary about the jock/heavy drinking drinking culture. So I guess I have some decisions to make over the next few months haha!

@asdfghjkl64‌ Are you looking anywhere else?

@hdbrill I’m not sure about the heavy drinking part, so I can’t talk about that. About the jock stereotype, athletics seem to be very important at Williams and a really big part of the social life. A distant family member went to Williams. She didn’t do sports, but she said she never felt out of place either. So I think it’s really up to the person. My list is a little scattered right now, but one of my favorites is Wellesley. I hope this helped! =)

@asdfghjkl64‌ Good luck in your search! Dartmouth, Williams and Wellesley are all great schools. (My aunt went to Wellesley and LOVED it).

Probably me! Just about done with touring colleges and Williams has stuck out as my definite favorite since I visited.

@Siyker‌ I’m just about done too! I still have to decide about wether or not to tour Yale, Bowdoin and Midd, but at this point I feel very confident in Williams :-bd

I visited this summer and pretty much fell in love so I think I’m with you guys.

I really want to attend Williams too. It’s like my dream school. I’m STILL not sure if I might make it to the ED deadline though. I’m giving my SAT this October (I know; poorly managed). But lets see how that goes. Trying my best currently.

@86nym86‌ Yay!! I can’t get over how much I love the school.
@AditiAryal‌ Good luck! I’m sure things will work out for you :)

I’m trying to decide between Williams and Bowdoin. I’m a legacy at both so I’ve been around them my whole life and love both of them.

I know above you mentioned drinking culture. I get the vibe that there are people who appreciate those who can shotgun beers all night without passing out, and those who could care less. I don’t think you’ll have trouble finding people who aren’t engaged in heavy drinking, but it is also definitely present.

@cdog17‌ That’s a good point. After learning more about the school, I’ve decided that the intellectual but humble vibe of the student body is perfect. I’m definitely applying ED!

I think I will be applying to Williams as my early school as well (although I’m struggling to let go of Stanford as an early school).

HI have to chime in…51% of dartmouth is greek??? So that leaves you with more students that aren’t than are at Willliams total! How many friends do you need? Pr etty sure you can find some in the 49% non greek scene. I always chuckle because at ANY school you can find your tribe. Have any of you looked at Amherst, lol. I am just kidding with you…Williams and Amherst have a huge rivalry…my daughter is amherst, her boyfiend williams, and they are both at dartmouth for medschool…so you can all get along…you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Time to bump this! Last year, most decisions came out online on the 12th although the official date was the 15th. This year the admissions page says the online notification date is the 15th. Still hoping for an earlier date!

@Siyker‌ I’m praying for an earlier notification date too! Knowing something by the 12th would be so nice! From what I’ve read, it seems like we will know the notification date a few (5-ish) days before it happens. In the past, decisions have been released online at 6 PM EST. The wait continues!

I figure the 12th is a logical day to release them since it’s a Friday, would probably make or break that weekend for me. Meanwhile have four other applications due tomorrow while I wait, woohoo!
