In the aftermath of recent events around New England, undergraduates from Bowdoin, Colby, Hamilton, Smith and the Art Institute of Chicago gathered in Williamstown Feb 22-23 for a timely discussion on the meaning of consent between sexual partners. This was a totally student-inspired event, largely organized by male students:

Unfortunately, it misses the entire point. The 44 women raped at Williams (and three men), according to President Falk, two years ago were not victims of lack of consent; they were victims of criminals masquerading as students. Five Williams students were expelled. National surveys indicate that more than half the students raped on college campuses are the victims of serial rapists, those who prey on their fellow students.

I think the conference was fine, but why isn’t there one on dealing with the criminals in their midst?
