So, I'm trying to decide Williams or Brown ED. Do I have a shot?

bump .

It's kinda late to start thinking about ED now, isn't it? I mean the deadline isn't until the 1st of Nov, but that still isn't too much time for the supplements and everything. Anyway, Brown is a reach, and you probably have a better chance at Williams.

yeah I finished both supplements. I was sort of leaning towards Williams ED. Do you think I have a shot? I have a B minus in AP physics right now, which might go down to a C plus at the end of the term.

WGPA is low for Brown and Williams (they mainly accept applicants with WGPA's at around 4.5 or higher, especially those coming from competitive HS). Volunteer hours will help, but EC's are somewhat lackluster. I'd say it's a High Reach for both schools.

bump .

well brown and williams are going to be a reach for the vast majority of applicants so saying it's a "reach" or not isn't all that helpful. I too am a year round swimmer, but I swim on a US club team and not high school. Did you by any chance go on a recruiting trip to williams recently for swimming? Back to the schools... the williams ED deadline is actually nov 10th, so you have a little bit of time. You're academic stats are probably in the low midrange of what is accepted at williams, so you would need to sell yourself on your committment and passion for swimming and your passion for biology and research. You said your essay is only "good to very good"... you should work on that a little to make it "great" or "excellent." That could end up being a large factor. The williams supplement essay is an interesting one; spend a lot of time in the next week on it and see if you can't make it thought provoking and interesting. That will be a hook for the admissions office. Sorry I don't know much about Brown, but I'm also applying to Williams (not ED though) so I can definitely help you out there. Which reminds me, don't apply ED if you're not absolutely certain about one. It doesn't sound like you're at that level of commitment yet if you're asking which one you should apply to. It would be different if the OP read "Applying ED to williams... what are my chances?" or a similar line for brown.

As a side note, how good are you at swimming?

thanks aquaphiliac. swimming is a pretty big EC, but not as big as my research. I am definitely not good enough to be recruited, my 100 breast time is about a 1.04. Also, I have made a final decision to do williams ED.

I'm Williams ED too. Best of luck :)
