I was recently offered an admission to both schools and am having trouble deciding where I want to go for undergraduate education. Here are some background info of mine. I am planning to major in Biology and hopefully go to med school. Personally I prefer warm weather, but then again I've been living in Columbus for a while so it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. I love the tutorial and Oxford exchange programs in Williams, yet I will be living farther away from my parents who are planning to move to California. Do you guys think Williams education is worth the cold weather and plane rides? I posted this exact same thread in Pomona Forum and most people seem to believe that I would fit in better in Pomona. So to make sure there is no bias, I decided to see what you guys think. Thanks for the input...

I think the two schools are totally equivalent. Six in one, half dozen in the other. If you want New England, rural, and more sports oriented, go to Williams. If you want So California, suburban, and a bigger feel with the Claremont consortium, go to Pomona. I wouldn’t spend one second worrying about opportunities for med school or anything else. These are two of the finest LACs in the country with enormous resources.

BTW, you can study at Oxford from any LAC in the country. Both schools offer fabulous study abroad options.

You should price and consider transportation during college. It’s a real issue. As a practical matter, you won’t be going home cross country for Thanksgiving, unless you have money to burn and like to spend two days travelling for three days at home. That and the expense is an issue for some people; not for others. You have to decide. But, sit down with Expedia and book a sample itinery, door to door so at least you know.
