No, there is no preference. I go to Pomona College, which also offers a BA in CS instead of a BS, and all of my CS friends are now at Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Lyft, Apple, Twitter, SpaceX, etc. They have told me they have never been asked to explain their BA degree. Recruiters know most of the top LACs grant only BA degrees, so they don’t disadvantage you. Williams is a very prestigious school, and their CS graduate outcomes are phenomenal.
Also, keep in mind this isn’t just a LAC thing. CS grads at Harvard can only get BAs as well.
Let me rephrase the above. Yes- there is a preference between BA and BS (more specifically the courses you take) when you’re at a college that offers both. At some colleges, there’s a huge difference between the two, so there’s a comparative advantage. At others, not so much, so they’re regarded equally. Recruiters research your department’s course offerings as well as the courses that you have taken throughout your time.
When your college only offers one, recruiters know this, and they don’t penalize you for not having a BS program.
I can hardly wait for decisions to be released! Does anyone know when the 2021 Early Writes will be sent out? I am certainly not expecting one, but they are fun to anticipate in these CC groups! :-SS
What shall be the latest date by which I could send an important update. I know, that by now most of the decisions have been finalised, but it is something that will greatly help my application and may compel them to re review my application. Please help!!!

Early writes are for if they really really like you. I don’t know if Williams sends them, you could probably find out with a little digging. But not everyone admitted gets one.

Early writes came out on March 11 last year by email

@atinytortilla They do both, I did some research on when they send early writes and there is a thread on here from RD 2020 and they said they received emails on March 11
