Hey everyone! Who else is excited to hear back from Williams?

Anyone???

I’m super excited! Do you know what date the decision is supposed to come back on?

I’m sooooo nervous.

Last year it was March 30th at 8PM EST! I’m sooooo nervous!!!

Hey I also applied to Williams. I just want this process to be done…

Oh I know, I just want this waiting game to end already!
It’s so exciting though :)

I want to all of you great luck-- just to let you know how great and thoughtful your future alma mater is-- it is, to my knowledge, the only college what has a 8 pm release time. At first that seemed odd–and cruel-- then I realized that it would be 5 pm on the West Coast and unlike those schools that release at 5pm EST, Williams kids in California and other western states can check when they get home, not in the middle of the school day when they have no privacy.*Very considerate.

I am super excited, but being in the low end of all Williams stats, I’m keeping realistic and expecting rejection. Do they release it online?

I am an international student and at first, I thought I had a slight chance of getting into Williams…

Then, an extremely intelligent guy from our country got accepted to Williams… Now, My hopes aren’t that much… on getting an acceptance…

I think Williams takes a balanced approach when reviewing applications. Your essay and ECs mean a lot to them so don’t count yourself out. You never know. Good luck to you both.

Just curious, did anyone here apply with a sub-2000 SAT score? I got a 1980 and felt pretty good with it myself but there are so many super high scorers here on CC I feel really inferior sometimes.

from what i gather, there is no one factor, including gap or test scores that get one IN or OUT. the admissions folks really read the essays and they count for a great deal, they read the recommendations, esp the school’s recommendations and given them a lot of credence. Finally they are building a class-- so they are looking for a mix or people from variety of backgrounds who will bring a special something to the College and for whom their time at Williams will be transformative. They also want kids who WANT Williams. They are very proud that 92% of the kids who enter (at least September 2011) had Williams as their number one choice. So if it is, make sure that the Committee knows that if offered you WILL attend (of course, only do that if it is true…it will be a mark against your high school if the Committee gets burned by an applicant who promises to come only to say no when Princeton says yes…)

So don’t obsess about the one 630 on a SAT2 or the B- in 2nd year French…think of your application in a holistic sense.

rpraderio- Yeah, I have an SAT score of 1910, but my subject tests turned out really well and my ACT score (30) is slightly better than SAT. I’m just glad to know that Williams actually uses a holistic approach to these things. I visited last September and etondad is completely right. They want the most diverse student body possible. They actually wouldn’t stop beating me over the head with it (of course, I’m exaggerating).

Kgoodwin, I’m glad we’re in the same position. I also did well on subject tests (lit-750, ush-700) so we don’t have to worry about that. I hope we both get in, it would be a real win for normal kids on CC :).

I just did an overnight there this weekend! It was so much fun! But be warned: IT’S SO COLD! But everyone is really nice and incredibly friendly!

I assume you’re not from new england lexieam, seeing as it’s been one of the warmest winters on record haha. But I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Yep, I don’t remember a winter ever being this warm and I’ve lived on the east coast all my life.

lexieam, oh my goodness, if you are admitted you are in for a rude surprise assuming global warming hasn’t changed NE winters forever. All I can say is buy lots and lots of layers–and down jackets-- real down, not synthetic–it helps-no joke.

I live in New York! I was just not expecting it to be nearly as cold as it was!
