<p>^^^rayrick, a very decent and non-biased comparison</p>
<p>Thanks for the excellent comparisons, guys. The name of a top ivy is simply something that opens doors like no other, which is a huge factor…AHH nervous for March 29th!</p>
<p>My S got the acceptance letter yesterday…he really liked the feel of the school but concerned that it is smaller than his HS…thanks for the comparison of Williams and Princeton…anyone able to do the same for Dartmouth (he’s in there too- likely letter)</p>
<p>Pdog, in terms of musical opportunities, Williams has an awesome music program. If you play an instrument, you can even be in a semi-professional orchestra, the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra. 1/2 of the participants are professional musicians and the other 1/2 are students at Williams.
As for job opportunities, The Williams Career Center is amazing. Williams also has an incredibly loyal alumni network who are more than willing to help current Ephs figure out what to do after they graduate, or for a summer internship. Again, it depends on what you’re going into, but if you want to go into big business (ie Wallstreet), Williams is extremely good. Because you get to know profs, you get really great references, and Morgan Stanley and other firms actually come to campus to interview applicants for both summer and full-time jobs. The good references because of student-faculty interactions at LACs might just make the cut to get jobs and get into grad programs. I’ve hear from a tour guide (though I can’t find this statistic anywhere else) that of Williams students who apply to grad school, 95% get into their top choice. For med school, it’s 89% that get into their top school. Again, I’m a bit skeptical about those statistics, but from the people I’ve met here, the vast majority (I’d say on the order of 85-90%) end up getting the job(s) they want, and getting into the grad schools they want.
Unfortunately, I cannot speak to any Ivies.</p>
<p>I take it there is no chance of getting an early write if you haven’t gotten one by this point :(</p>
<p>That’s what I’m guessing. I’m in phoenix… so I’m holding out hope it’ll be here tomorrow.</p>
<p>Can anyone tell me where the admission decision will go up online? I can still see that my application is complete but I can’t find any link or page that says anything about a decision.</p>
<p>God question…when will RD be announced?</p>
<p>My application stautus still says incomplete. Apparently one of my teacher recommendations wasn’t received and when I asked her, she said she was pretty sure she did it. She double-checked and I even went on the Common App to check on the status of the recommendation it just says “Started.” So emailed someone at admissions about faxing or emailing a paper copy and she said, “I’m sorry, but there is only 1 teacher recommendation uploaded on common app, so that is why only 1 is showing on your account.” She went on to say that they very often evaluate with only one teacher recommendation and if they feel that they absolutely needed the second, the staff contacts the student. She promised that it will not affect the outcome of your application one way or the other. But I’m not sure if believe that or not. I hope this mishap didn’t ruin my chances of receiving an Early Write or an acceptance. :/</p>
<p>I think they will be out online within the next two weeks!</p>
