Williams RD Chances?

I really want to go to Williams, but I'll probably only apply RD, so is there anyone out there that can chance me for Williams RD? I'd really appreciate it!

Summer activities:
Service Trip to Kenya
Internship at USAID in Washington.
Duke summer course in econ, got an A

Intended major: Economics or Math, or a mix of the two

My main concerns are the following:
- do high test scores and strong ECs make up for a GPA which does not seem that impressive compared to the other applicants?
-How negatively will my race affect my chances?

-btw I'm in state, not sure if that helps though.
-btw my school regularly sends students to top LACs each year.
-will I have a better chance ED?

Since you are currently a sophomore, you cannot know what your GPA will be, what your scores will be on AP exams, whether you will qualify for NMF, whether you will be inducted into NHS etc. In fact, virtually everything you’ve posted is speculative at best, invented at worst. This is not the way to earn credibility or to take advantage of the real resources which exist on this site. You should remove this post and come back in a year and a half when you have some actual facts to work with.

Also, you should place a post like this in the chances section (when you are second semester junior or first semester senior). And again, I suggest you refrain from this kind of trolling.

honeybee63-the birth date that I provided in my profile is completely random, because I want to remain as anonymous as possible. I do not have any intentions of trolling people on cc. All that I want to know is if Williams is a realistic goal for me. All of the above stats are accurate, and none of it is speculative, nor is any of the above invented. So refrain from making snap judgements. In fact, in a few of my other posts I explicitly refer to myself as a junior. I’m also pretty new to CC and this is the first time I’ve encountered rudeness on this site which is normally full of friendly, helpful people.

No offense, sprite123, but it’s difficult to take you seriously when on only 12/29 you posted that Dartmouth was your dream school and “the only school you could really see yourself at.”

If any of your information that you’ve provided really does line up with your real-life application profile, your chances at any other schools you’ve mentioned applying to in other posts diminish with statements like “Dartmouth is my dream school, only school” if they can be traced to you.

Williams is one of the only colleges I’m aware of who has actually even rescinded an acceptance after being able to trace unbecoming statements on this very forum to a particular admit. Also, being a student yet calling the parent of a potential future classmate “rude” is really not a great way to win you points. A straight, simple apology about your being new would have gone a lot further.

Indiscretion on the internet and potentially one’s attitude are definitely things that will keep you out of schools, not your stats, which if accurate are a credit to you.

wahwah16x- I admit that I was quick to uneccesarily accuse honeybee63 of rudeness. When I posted in the dartmouth forum, I asked for ED chances, because I still love Dartmouth, I’m just asking for Williams RD chances, because I may not get into Dartmouth. However after some more research, I realized that Williams is a very academically strong school as well, and I may even apply ED here if I really like it after visiting! I’m sure that everyone has their own dream school. for me its Dartmouth, hence I may apply ED. Williams is just one of the other similar schools I am looking at so that I will be able to make a good decision on my school. Thanks for the heads up on how to conduct myself on cc. I also appreciate you taking the time to answer my original question!

honeybee63- I apologize for calling you “rude”, I guess I just misinterpreted your response as offensive and hurtful, because I originally interpreted it as diminishing and negating all of my effort in high school, saying that I just “invented” the results of years of hard work. All I asked for was a simple Williams chance. I’m pretty sure you didn’t mean for your response to sound rude, it’s fine, I just interpreted it the wrong way.

I am also new to CC and not familiar with the chances section or really anything else on how this site works, and once again I apologize to honeybee63 if in any way I offended you by calling your post “rude”.

btw if you see a post where I said that I was a sophomore, that is because, being new to cc and all, I just wanted to gauge cc member’s confidence in advice from underclassmen vs. upperclassmen. I think I’ll just put in effort to learn the ropes of cc before I say things I probably shouldn’t. :)

btw, I’ve seen from your previous posts that you appear to be Williams parents, so I was wondering if it would be fine if I could pm you guys a few questions about Williams admissions, because the whole concept of LACs really excites me :).

sprite, you have posted that: you are a sophomore, you are a junior, you are a senior, Duke is your dream school, Dartmouth is your dream school, and you really want to go to Williams. Even if you are a junior, (and I tend to believe you are a sophomore), ALL of the data you posted above is speculative. Final PA is not calculated. NMF status is not released until next year. SAT I and II are likely not completed yet. You certainly have no idea that you will get 5’s on all the APs you haven’t taken yet. In fact do you have ANY of the 7 scores yet? You said you got 5’s on everything including Calc BC. You’ve posted ECs and leadership roles that in the future.

This is trolling and wasting everybody’s time.
I suggest you take your query to the chances thread and post ONLY current stats.

I also think you’d do better in the chances threads.

In addition, even if I did have enough posts to PM, I think honeybee’s D and my S had completely different admissions experiences which wouldn’t apply to your situation. Honeybee’s D was matched through the Questbridge program and my S was a recruited athlete applying ED. Wishing you good fortune with your future application experience.
