tchai;
You have an awesome resume and qualify for ALL the colleges on your list. But, what is your strongest quality? That's what these colleges will look for.
You need to emphasize your strongest "hook" that will differentiate you from all the other applicants with similarly strong credentials.
Williams is smaller than most of your other choices, so this special aspect of your application will be especially important.
Good Luck!!

I pride myself as a composer and as an oboist mostly :) thanks for your reply!

yay fellow tchaik fans! Which one of his symphonies is your favorite? The fact that my favorite is the 5th, movement two, should clue you into what instrument I play.

Haha.. sorry, I'm guessing you play 1st horn? I've only heard the fifth once :( . My favorite symphony is his 4th. (I play violin too) The 1st violin part is so crazy fun for the finale!!

your stats are amazing...you should get in anywhere! good luck...i hope to meet you on campus next fall

Hahah, cool thanks for your response!

What is your first choice?

yup, right in one. I actually wrote one of my essays about tchaik 5. I can't help being a music dork, so I figured I'd just let the adcoms know who they were getting. hehe.

Right now, I don't have a first choice, but I would definetly go to Williams if I decide to major only in English/french lit stuff. rhapsodynshadow, that's very interesting that you wrote an essay about tchaikovsky's 5th! I wrote one about my interest in composing, music history, theory, etc.

whoa, you're an english person too! we have a lot in common in terms of interests, if not in terms of chances of being accepted. I also applied at williams and dartmouth, so maybe if the admissions gods take pity on me we'll meet someday.

Haha, yeah Williams is great for a liberal arts education, especially as an English major!

Williams is definetly ivy league level as a liberal arts college. Although the class size is small, you still have a very good chance.

Thanks. Yeah, I know that Williams is very tough to get into.

It is pretty obvious that you will get in, unless they already have a whole bunch of muscians, or some other significant part of you. Williams is tough, but so long as you can make their student body more well rounded then you are fine. Also I've talked with a Yale Professor, who has a hand in admissions, and he said that if the Ivies were to name another school an Ivy it'd be Williams above all others. Even though it goes against precedent 3-1 that they'd do it. Also Yale's graduate programs, percentage-wise, accept more from Williams than they do their own undergraduate body. Just some info that you might like to know.

Very interesting! Yeah, I've seemed to notice a lot of William applicants also get accepted to Yale and Harvard

that's very interesting, seeing as my top two choices are yale and williams. The more I hear, the more I like

Hahha, that's cool.

My friend got into Yale early action but decided to go to Williams. I hear she's really happy with her choice. I guess it really just depends on the person :). Good luck! I'm sure you'll get into Williams.

Here is an update that I sent to all my colleges:
-National Merit Finalist
- My science bowl team made regionals (so far) for the National Science Bowl Competition
- One of my music pieces was announced to be premiered Dresden 2006 - Sound, City, Silence composition competition (for piano trio).
- I was accepted to attend the Third International Workshop for Young Composers (rolling acceptance)
- Third prize for International de Composition pour Orchestre d'Harmonie (performance in June)
Hopefully it will help? :)

Btw, thanks lionheartop2!
