Williams Transfer 2018

Hey guys! Here’s a discussion for the 2018 transfer applicant cycle.

I’m in. Was accepted to Pomona already, so if I get both it will be a very difficult decision to make. GLTA

Was rejected from Pomona but accepted to Colorado College. Am pretty doubtful about getting into Williams but still taking a shot at it haha

Anyone mind posting their stats?

The only LAC left on my list at this point! 9 in total left, hopefully some good news is in store for us  They don’t accept too many transfers every year unfortunately, but the application itself wasn’t too bad to write.

Check in as a transfer for fall 2018

May 3rd was the big day last year, so I’d expect a decision sometime next week! Fingers crossed

No way, really? Based purely on the Williams website, I assumed we’d hear back May 15. I’d be glad to know they usually release even sooner

The results are out

Dang, denied. 1570 sat, 4.0 college gpa, 3.69 hs gpa.

@koletang Me too. I mean they only accept around 2% per year as far I know so welp…

rejected as well. bummer

How the fu-- I got accepted… This is all unreal, talk about redemption, holy crap. I couldn’t be happier right now. Ontop of the world, love you too Williams.

Congratulations! Here’s hoping for you, Swarthmore

Rejected. Looks like i’ll be Pomona bound. Congrats to all who were accepted!

Rejected. @AGoodFloridian Congrats on another one! Definitely some tough choices ahead

@LookAtMe Thank you so much! I feel incredibly honored- they even offered to fly me out to visit the college, waived my enrollment fee, and gave a fire financial aid package. I’ll be visiting them and Rice soon this month!

It feels surreal, in the last few years I’ve been in the admissions journey, I’d always see users shouting “accepted”. If they were friendly, it’d bring me great joy to see it. The thought always lingered in my head “It’d be even better if I could be happier with you”. Acceptances always seemed to avoid me- I even got paranoid to believing I was on some sort of blacklist lol :)) It all changed this year.

Determination

Congrats @AGoodFloridian Are you transferring as a sophomore or junior?

Would you mind sharing your stats? And the school you are transferring from?

Once again, Congratulations!!!

@tony2008 Thanks pal! Technically I’m a junior, but I’m losing one semester so I’ll be graduating with the current sophomores. It’s what I was expecting, so it’s great!

I’m not too keen on the whole stats thing, but if it helps:
3.91 GPA , at 60 credits, from a community college. Applied Physics major, so that GPA comes from some of the more challenging coursework my college has to offer.
34 ACT
2 experimental physics internships at some well-regarded universities in the country
Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholar
URM, low-income, first generation student and immigrant. I’m not sure how much “hooks” play a role in transfer admissions.
Rec letters were probably very strong, never read them but the professors who wrote have been following me on this process for years now.

That’s the in-a-nutshell version, but again, many people who applied with me had extraordinary “stats”, this is a very fickle process, even more so for transfer students. Good luck to you!
