[ b]General Comments: Good luck guys!!
^probably better shot than I have. Like a 3.85 college, 4.0 high school GPAs. Pretty good ECs with lots of work experience and really good essays though so I think it’ll hinge upon those. Good luck everyone
Good luck you guys! I turned my application in with zero expectations and I’m pretty sure my sad high school transcript and test scores won’t do me any favors, but same - I would love to have a shot at W.
@calvinwong congrats on your acceptances!! fingers crossed for all the rest
Does anyone know how to submit/has successfully submitted an art supplement via Slideroom? Thought it was a matter of the function popping up after I am done with the Common App part, but the Slideroom page still indicates that there are “no available programs”. Emailed them about it but haven’t got back to me
Can Williams be said to accept transfer students? Last year, for example, they took 2 of 258. Though some say this is based on a high retention rate, this mathematically does not need to be the case. It appears that Williams simply has little interest in these applicants.
@merc81 i suppose that’s why transferring to W is really the crapshoot of all crapshoots! last year’s numbers were indeed daunting - they seem to also vary significantly from year to year, which makes me wonder really to what extent they look to the transfer pool to round out their classes
@uniquesnowflake: Well, since your application has already been submitted, I suppose I’m just observing a statistic at this point. Hypothetical contrasts are starkly problematic, though: Williams ED acceptance rate, 42%; Williams transfer acceptannce rate (in the most recent year, but as you pointed out not all years), <1%. Transfer applicants may want to ask what priorities Williams is manifesting with this disparity.
In your case, I trust you have applications out at a variety of institutions, and certainly wish you success at Williams (if indeed it’s possible) and elsewhere.
@merc81 thank you!! fingers crossed
@uniquesnowflake thank you! I hope this year would not be the 2 out of 250 case anymore like last year!!
Has anyone heard back yet???
Nope… I am so nervous. From looking at the past years’ threads it seems like next Friday or so might be possible. I guess we can always call to ask though.
@uniquesnowflake I am really hopeless because I did not write the supplementary essay… So have you heard back from other schools?
@clamme Stay strong! There are people who get in without the extra essay. If you ran out of time or something I think it’s better if you concentrated on making the other parts of your application superb rather than spreading yourself too thin anyway.
I haven’t heard back from any schools yet as I applied to fewer places than most. What about you?
In the mean time, best of luck to all of us!
Thank you! I hope so! Just heard back from Haverford and I am rejected… Swarthmore is gonna be released next Tuesday.
@clamme I got rejected by Amherst yesterday. :(( Bowdoin and Pomona said no already. Thank god, Wesleyan accepted me today. I am still waiting on Swarthmore and Williams. For S and W, I am not gonna get my hopes up.
Big congrats on Wesleyan! Very happy for you.
@clamme and @calvinwong good luck for S! I hope you get good news.
@uniquesnowflake Thank you. I just got rejected by Johns Hopkins. :(( This has been a tough week. Hopefully, I save up all the odds for next week.
Hopefully hardly anyone applied and we all get in
