I doubt I can be too helpful. I don’t have any direct experience personally. I can give you general suggestions.

My understanding is that financial aid adjustments might occur if there’s a major change in a family’s financial picture or inaccurate information was submitted. For example, since submitting info, a parent is now unemployed or investment/savings amounts or other assets have changed or are misunderstood by the financial aid office.

As I recall, on Williams website there is a financial aid calculator. Try it. If the estimate you arrive at is different from what financial aid offered, you could contact them and ask for an explanation.

1) If you tell us more about your financial situation, we can provide more insight on whether an EFC of 40k is consistent with what others get.

2) The tutorial program will not be effected for at least several years. Williams isn’t firing faculty, so there won’t be changes in courses offered. Cuts will come from elsewhere.

Williams is incredibly proud and protective of its tutorials - I don’t see them going anywhere regardless of new budgeting or hiring decisions.

Tutorials are fantastic, definitely consider them a pro for Williams. I’m a sophomore and have already taken two, and they are certainly the highlights of my academic experience to date.

I also heard that Williams was “jockish” before coming here, and would not consider that stereotype merited. Outdoorsy, certainly, but that’ll be the same at Middlebury. Really, both are fantastic and very similar places - visit and see which one you have more of a feel for.
