I'm a freshman assigned to Wilson Hall in the South Complex this fall. I know nothing about it. On the map it looks like it's pretty close to the basketball arena and football stadium, which I like.

Is it mostly Freshman, or a mix of upperclassman? Is it known for partying or studying? Good? Bad? Any information would be helpful.

hey i’m not a student at msu but i plan to apply this summer. wilson is close to the breslin center and stadium which i like too cause i’m a sports fanatic. however it is said to be a party dorm. mostly because of the athletes who dorm there. i heard the dorms are a nice size and include a suite style. as far as people there most our sophomores and juniors but there are some freshman there.

Actually I read my message wrong. At the bottom of the page the message’s return address is Wilson Hall, but I’m in Hubbard.

Can I still change halls? Hubbard is WAY on the east side of Campus and If I can I would like to be closer to the center.

Ermmm…really the only way to change halls is if you find a roommate that is a 1st year in a residential college (RCAH, James Madison, or Lyman Briggs). But at this point they don’t have to honor roommate requests, so even that might not work. Once in a while I remember that housing would send out bulletins to switch housing in the fall semester, but I wouldn’t count on it. You can always ask housing to switch, but chances are you’ll be stuck at hubbard. It is a bit far from some things, but it is not as bad as most people say (most people who live there like/love it). Plus the bus comes regularly to hubbard and goes everywhere on campus.

Wilson has a decent combo of freshmen/upperclassmen with a fair share of athletes/jock types. South complex is a bit more lively than many of the other complexes (i.e. north or west circle dorms are a lot more tame/have more upperclassmen) but brody/hubbard/akers (where most of the freshmen are are) are definitely considered more party-oriented than south complex in general (with the exception of holden, which houses a ton of freshmen as well).
