Windows on Mac

My E28 and E10 classes require Solidworks and AutoCAD which only seem to run on windows. Is there a provision (IST maybe?) that allows Berkeley students to get Windows through bootcamp on their mac through the university?

Have you tried the Windows 7 upgrade disc? I don’t think it actually checks for a preexisting Windows partition. But if it does, you can just try installing it twice.

EDIT: you can get the disc for free from school

Try not to dual boot windows on the Mac. << >> It will crash, just like mine did :p

^Just because it happened to you doesn’t mean it will happen to everyone. Generally, it is very easy to install Windows on a Mac.

Heck, it is possible to install a Mac on Windows (but requires a very high degree of computer savy).

I believe there is a Mac version of Autocad (though it won’t run on Mountain Lion yet).

Solidworks appears to be windows only, but apparently it won’t run with bootcamp.

Instead of bootcamp, look at VMWare Fusion

or it may just be cheaper to get a cheap PC to run the windows versions.
