Have you thought about Linux?

Having Windows on a computer is like driving a car and knowing you have to add a new part every day or two and that it will break down or be broken into every few weeks.

Has anyone here every had a problem with Windows and actually gotten through to Microsoft support and gotten real help. Usually you can't get through, or you have to pay for it, or they claim "it's not our problem" - it must be a problem of other software you've installed. And all this after you've paid several hundred dollars if not more for their product. Imagine buying a $20 toaster and not being to get if fixed.

I have no idea bd0251. I guess it will all depend on how soon Dell updates their computers. BigGreen- I'm not much of a Window$ fan myself. I much prefer OS X (which only runs on a Mac). I'm hoping I'll be able to bring my [future] Macbook Pro to use instead of the Dell, but I'm sure this will be the least of our concerns.

TMac,

I expect you'll be issued and pay for the laptop selected by West Point and issued to all plebes. And you're right. You won't care very much about which operating system you're using. ;)

[geeky] Linux is just for script kiddies and Mac OS X is for people who still ive in the dark ages [/geeky] :-P :-P :-P

Just kidding all, just kidding :-P I actually have a linux box and have used macs for some graphical work.

I wounder if they would put longhorn on the lappies WP would be offering. Since Microsoft wants to release 7 different flavors (Home, Home lite, Pro, pro lite, extreme gaming etc), i wounder if they will make a "Military Edition"...

Who knows.

g33ks rule.

I love my PowerBook, I'm jealous about all the new MacBooks and iMacs.
