Well…the wedding couple received their varied case of wines today…and it was a hit gift! Certainly a great idea for couples who really have everything.
We used Crimson Wine Group in Napa…and they were very very helpful in getting this all done.

I thought of this thread when I got an email today from UPS advising that our shipment from Naked Wines would be delivered tomorrow. We never ordered anything, and no one we know has ever sent us wine (bring yes, send no). So I called the company to make sure it wasn’t a scam or mixup, and they said it was a gift from of their customers , couldn’t tell us who, and there was a gift message with it. Mystery!
Oh do let us know!
We got a very expensive wine gift once and couldn’t figure out who sent it. Turns out you had to take the entire label off and then it folded out with a note. Love wine as a gift. So great.
I’ve come up with a theory on the mystery wine, although my husband thinks it’s unlikely. The son of family friends postponed their wedding last summer and are holding it this summer with a reduced guest list. Maybe they’re sending a bottle of champagne to those of us who didn’t make the cut? All the B listers? We’ll know in a few hours…
Mystery solved; gift from my brother to thank us for sending them lemons from our back yard. Amusingly, the gift message was truncated and the sender was missing so I had to call Naked Wines to find out. Also not so amusingly, after decades of dinners and seders and such, my brother has yet to remember that I never drink reds and prefer fruity whites.
But as he has said, it’s the thought that counts. (He said that when he once sent a “year you were born” birthday card - with the wrong year. There are only the two of us siblings.)
Very nice gift! You can always serve those reds to guests!
Or use to take when you are going to somebody else’s house…
Or my husband can cook with it.
Glad the wedding couple enjoyed their wine.
@Marilyn, hope you enjoy yours also.
How many lemons did you send!!?
It could be a mixed-up reaction from the wedding couple.
@1214mom I hope you know the reason. The reason is after a few time their drinks might be not cool as it was before serving so use custom wedding koozies to keep them cool.
