Winging It

I had the opportunity to stay at ND last week for the ND vision catholic leadership faith program for high school students. needless to say, I fell in love! I am by no means at the top of my class but I wondered if their was any glimmering hope of possibility for acceptance. Also, I was diagnosed with ADD at the beginning of my spohmore year, this has had a noteable affect on my SAT scores...

SAT: CR: 590 MATH: 440 WRITING: 660 (ESSAY:11)
SAT II: N/A
ACT: 21
GPA: 4.03/3.8 cum
course load: hon. history 9-11 media 12/ math: basic course load 9-11 statistics 12/ science reg 9-11 AP environmental 12/reg eng. 9-10. hon. 11-12/hon. select chorus 11-12. french 9-10.

Excellent extracurriculars: KEY CLUB 10-12 / visionary catholic program 11-12
excellent reccomendations

Godfather (close family friend) played offensive linemen during 1966 national championship game at ND. (legacy?)

school type: private/catholic known for getting at least one/two students into ND each year

Do you have an idea of what your class rank is? Also, did you take the SAT with extended time? It will be a reach regardless though I think you may have a shot IF you get your SAT score up. If you have a diagnosis of ADHD you should be able to get extended time testing. If you haven’t done so, I would HIGHLY recommend getting in touch with ETS and see if you don’t qualify and then re-take the exam.

I wish you the best of luck and I am glad to hear that you liked ND, it is an amazing place! Also, remember that if you don’t get in the first time around that ND is a transfer friendly place.

i don’t think you’re a legacy, since you’re not related to him

To put it bluntly, you’re not a legacy. A legacy is defined simply as the son or daughter of a person who graduated from ND.

To be honest, I don’t think you can get in with those SAT scores, even with ADD. If you can get them up into ND’s range, then you have a shot. You should definitely look into extended time. Good luck!
