Winning Awards AFTER ED App has been submitted

Hey yall! I submitted an ap ED before 11/1, but I won an award last week for model UN—outstanding delegate for my regional/state conference; judges choice

do I just add it to my CA now and hope it makes my RD apps look better, or are you supposed to email the school you EDed to and update them? Not sure how this works or if it will have a big impact.

Here is a thread that addresses this exact question: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/1755180-update-letter-to-upenn.html

I agree with the advice in this thread - if your college counselor can reach someone in admissions (regional AO might be best), I would go this route. In addition, you could send an email to admissions.

I would do it ASAP. Your application has almost certainly been read at this point, and this week Penn is probably in committee finalizing ED decisions and starting to shape the class.

Complete your common app and ask your guidance counselor to call today about it. If your GC can’t or won’t, email your regional rep.

I know his email! I’ll get to them right away, thanks so much. Had no idea this might affect my application!

In addition to emailing the admissions rep for your area, CC the general admissions email address.

Agree with the comments. I would add that it is best to keep the email short and sweet as admissions officers are very busy right now. In the email I would describe the award and reaffirm your interest in the school using just a few sentences.
