I saw it in one of your post. It seems like you did all the hw before I did anything. lol
Thanks for the info anyway.

Hi there, I am Avalon, going to transfer in winter as you. I need to find a housemate too, but I am kind of new to the town. Lemme introduce first, I came from Hong Kong, majoring in Sociology, 21 male, right now studying in Foothill College which is right behind the hill. Actually I don’t know much about the area, but I did a visit last week. I am willing to pay for under $650 for a private room. If you are interested, send me an email: iceavalon@gmail.com

I’m applying for on campus housing but they told me chances are really slim. So if I get denied, I’d be very interested in sharing a place.

About me: 24-yr-old Asian female transfer student, I make very little noise (headsets ftw!) except maybe when phone goes bad…I’m not 420 friendly (drugs, for those who ask) and cannot live with anyone who smokes.

I keep my stuff out of other ppl’s way and therefore would appreciate the same…litter your own room all you want, but don’t get it in my face, right?

I have excellent records as a housemate. Pay everything early, keep common areas clean, no drama. I don’t ask much from my housemates, just pay ur rent, and don’t put 100 lotions in the bathroom.

What do you mean “chances are slim” for on campus housing? New transfers are guaranteed housing on campus for 2 years (one year plus two quarters for winter transfers) as long as you meet all the deadlines. Unless, of course, you’re not a new transfer or you no longer have your housing guarantee. In which case, ignore me ;)

Called them 2 weeks ago and this lady who picked up the phone said theres no guarantee…I’m a new transfer I’m always ahead of deadlines and stuff, unfortunately that’s what she said~~~ * sigh *

maybe she meant there’s no guarantee on the type of housing you get?

Housing Guarantee information: http://www.housing.ucsc.edu/shs/pdf/UndergradGuarantees.pdf

As a new transfer, you are 100% guaranteed campus housing (there are a couple of campus housing options that are off-campus, but they are still campus housing) if you meet ALL deadlines. Only the type of housing you want will not be guaranteed (for example, I want a single room. There are very of these available and thus I will be competing with others to obtain one so there is no guarantee I will get what I want. But I will be given campus housing in some type of room no matter what).

I agree with estrellatuya that you probably asked about a specific type of housing rather than housing in general. Or the woman you spoke with is one of the very few uninformed individuals on campus who spreads false information.
