Winter 2012 Transfer Thread

I know I saw one of these before but I can't seem to find it anymore so I guess I'll restart it here. Anyways, where are you applying from and what are your stats? What are you applying to and any advice or just general comments?

I’m apply from the University of Pittsburgh as an Econ major to LSA.
31 credits completed, 46 pending.
HS GPA: 3.6
College GPA: 3.71
ACT: 33

I’m just hoping I can be one of the first people to find out since this is easily my dream school. I already paid $125 for a ticket to the OSU game so by the time the game happens, I’m hoping I will be attending as an admitted student and not have it be another reminder of what I don’t have. It’s only September but I’m already really nervous. I was told I have a legitimate shot so it just makes me that much more anxious. I feel like a high school senior again.

Does anyone know if they’ll be giving any decisions this thursday 10/6?

I am applying as a transfer from Central Michigan. I am a second semester freshman with a sophomore/junior credit status.

High School Stats…

… I was originally wait-listed in the Fall for UMICH. Now waiting for a response. I applied on August 3rd, but my transcripts were messed up and it wasn’t “confirmed” until September 13th… When did you apply anthonyxy21?

Oh and in regards to your question… I don’t think so. UMICH generally sends out admissions decisions on Fridays. In 2010, the first wave that I am aware of was sent out on Friday, October 15. The second wave was sent Friday, October 22. So we are potentially looking at a decision next Friday!!

It said that my application was received 8/22 but it wasn’t actually confirmed until the same day as yours because of my transcripts.

ok… and for the record, your GPA and intended major combination make it look like you have a very good chance (from my experience with stalking every umich transfer thread on this site lol) I am really interested to know when you get your decision. Good luck!

Thanks, you too, hopefully we both get the good news on 10/14. I’m very much amazed that you somehow didn’t get in as a freshman because based on your high school stats, you’re easily more qualified than at least 40% if not more of the admitted freshman class. Hopefully you only miss out on one semester although you did miss out on a lot already since it did cost you that epic night game against ND.

Yeah man, wishing you the best! And you are actually mistaken… I was at the Notre Dame game. It was incredible. lol

Yeah Josh I agree, Michigan must have made a mistake in rejecting you since your stats seem really good. Though, if I had to take a guess, it might be because of high school you attended, it might not be a “feeder”. Still, from reading on here it seems Michigan is big on junior transfers, so I don’t know how they will look at you in terms of as a sophomore or junior.

Hello everyone,

Just curious as to confirmed vs received… I got a confirmation email saying my app was received and being processed. That us different from confirmed? And do you get another email when it is confirmed? I keep refreshing Wolverine Access but there is nothing really there except my App #, name, etc… Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

It’s actually the same thing. You won’t get another e-mail because the admissions office has your app now and is reviewing it. It’s just wait and see for you now until they give you your decision. When that happens, a “view decision” link should appear as well.

OK thanks. Should I read anything into the fact that there are no links, i.e. “view credentials”? Thinking I may call tomorrow to make sure they received all of my transcripts and syllabi.

There is only one e-mail I believe… at least that’s all I got. I submitted my app for Fall '12 in the first week of August, but I had all my transcripts and letters of recommendations sent by July. When I got Wolverine Access in the first week of September my app was already complete so I don’t know if there are any additional e-mails. That’s the only official e-mail I’ve received thus far.

As for myself, the suspense is really frustrating but for some odd reason I’m actually embracing it. Not many times do you get a chance to wait for something so important and meaningful. Michigan is by far my top choice and if it wasn’t for having some backups, it would be my only choice. I check Wolverine Access at least twice everyday just to see if anything has changed - really driving myself nuts lol! @ Anthony and Joshua, you both appear to be likely fits and I would be very surprised if either of you didn’t get accepted… those stats are very nice! =)

@ abrknight - it will say whether it was received or not. Are you saying you don’t have the “application data” or “view credentials” links, or do you?

Yeah the suspense is making me a little nuts too. I click on App Status and this is the info. I get. It says links may vary based on application, but there are no links at all from the app status page just the following:

Application Term Academic Career Academic Program Application Nbr Application
WN 2012 Undergraduate L S & A Lit, Science & Arts UG Degree 0103****

hmm… yeah I’d call admissions and see why. I have two links - ‘view application data’ and ‘view credentials.’ I would assume you should have the same.

On a side note, I’m trying to decipher the application number because it just seems logical that it isn’t entirely random. I wonder if anyone else has looked at this number and tried to determine if there’s any significance. See, I told you that this wait period is really making me go nuts! =P

lol Mag, I do the same thing too but nothing ever changes. abrknight that is strange, you should probably call and see whats happening. Hopefully they will release at least some decisions tomorrow but I doubt it, most of the decisions will probably be released 10/14 and 10/21 and possibly 10/28. Some people may have to wait until November and hopefully that’s none of us. One day that view decision link will magically pop up and I hope you get the good news. BTW, can you share your stats, it helps everyone else going through what were going through right now and people in the future. I’m really thankful for the guy who made this thread last year because it allowed me to see what other applicants looked like. You don’t have to share everything, just what you’re comfortable with. Thanks

Yeah sure, thanks for the info. guys. My stats are as follows:

High school GPA: cough-2.8-cough
College GPA: 3.87
Credits: 44, pending 50
Volunteer highlight: Unit Blood Coordinator for 2000+ person ‘sensitive information’ work center
Different life experience including almost 6 years in the Air Force (soon to be separating)
Hold active TS/SCI clearance

Not sure how much if at all that will help but I definitely threw it in there. On a side note, due to some unexpected changes in military commissioning programs, I made the decision to apply pretty late, so that may be why my links aren’t up yet. Will make sure tomorrow though. Good Luck everyone, I’ll be checking back pretty often.

wow, abrknight that’s pretty cool that you’re active military too. I’ve been in the Army for almost 4 years and I’ll be separating in 7 months and can’t wait to get back to school. Nice that you have the TS, that will be really lucrative later down the road.

Although I’m not applying for Winter, but rather Fall 2012 here’s my stats:

High School GPA: 3.45

SAT: 1160 (took it in 2004, so it was the older one)

College GPA: 3.85 w/ 124 credits

Prerequisite material GPA: 3.92 GPA (includes all math & science courses for engineering)

almost 4 years active military service

member of Phi Theta Kappa (yeah, I know… who isn’t, right?)

500+ volunteer hours while serving in the military in both mentoring and assisting military families.

First generation college student

Eligible for GI Bill benefits so there’s no need for financial aid (I’m assuming that in today’s economy, even universities may appreciate tangible assets from competitive students)

Only thing I’m not sure of is whether I qualify for in-state since Michigan is my Home of Record. It’s a long story, but it’s definitely complicated so I may have to just settle for OOS status.
