Winter 2012- Transfers Accepted/Denied/Pending?

Travelgirl, what major was he?

japanese language and literature…which I’m told is really hard to get into

you can look up what gpa you typically should have for your particular graduate program the same way you probably looked up your chances of transferring based on your gpa. it shouldn’t be too hard to find. they told me i need a 3.8 to even be considered for psychology. i think that’s a bit of an exaggeration honestly bc i looked it up the stats and it seems like if i have a 3.8 flat i’d have at least a 50/50 chance. still though i’m just forgetting i ever saw that and going off what i heard from the psych department so that i stay motivated enough to get the best grades i possibly can, mainly bc the half price thing is big money to me; to get lousy grades would be to forfeit what, 50 grand on my part, at least, right? plus i hate moving!

graduate school admissions is a lot more than gpa…

yes, much more than just gpa. for example…to get into my husbands program not only did you need 4 years of japanese language/lit experience but you need to have a year of another language experience as well as other criteria. (BTW his MA gpa ended up being 3.91)

thanks for the info, knave … i totally didn’t know that at all. your “they have to accept in-state transfers” comment was pretty enlightening as well.

not to be a ■■■■■. but i can’t have a 19 year old telling me this like i don’t know.

Travelgirl: I’m Japanese and I kind of feel honored to be a native speaker of the language since the dept sounds really hard to get into. lol
Anyway, it’s almost the 10th everyone! We might or might not hear from UW on that day but I really hope all of us will get in. I’m super anxious.

Good Luck Everyone! I am just super nervous.

This is my first time logging on to this site. My brother got accepted last qtr and I applied for Winter 2012. I wasn’t nervous at first, but my brother started trying to scare me and it worked!! Now I’m on edge just waiting. I called to ask when the first batch of letters were going out, and they told me in a few week those who applied should be getting their answers. Does anyone have any concrete dates on when we should expect to hear back? Good luck everyone

I don’t think anybody knows the concrete date, but according to last year’s post, majority of people received the letter between 10-17th.

Well for the School of Business the decision notifications dates are:

Winter 2012 Notification Dates

UW Natives November 10, 2011
Transfers November 28, 2011

@ sgcore: Yep, I’m waiting on Foster too! I applied for UW as a transfer with approx. 90 credits for Fall 2011 and got in (I’m at UW now), but I haven’t been accepted to Foster yet. Let’s both hope for good news, if you’re waiting too!

Oh, if that’s the case, it’ll leave us only a month to prepare for the winter quarter (submitting our measles verification, orientation, etc). I cannot wait till the 28th…

I just found out that I got accepted to Foster!! I’m so excited!! I hope you all here good news too.

Congrats KatleyFC!

Wow! Congrats!! How did you find out KayleyFC? I bet your unofficial transcript didn’t load or anything since you’re already in UW right?

@ schan53: Yeah, they actually sent me an email. At first I thought it might be a scam because I did except a physical letter, but I knew the email was real once I saw the stats it had listed inside of it. It listed my stats against the stats of other applicants, as well as other students who were admitted. So it’s legit. I’m sure I’ll get a physical letter too, in a couple of days.

That’s so cool, I’m happy for you! I wish they would send out emails to the transfer students as well. Though the physical letter might feel more “official” ;)

Congrats KatleyFC! What is your WSA score (if you don’t mind asking)?

@ sgcore: It doesn’t show a breakdown of scores per task, but my average for both tasks was a 5.
