Winter 2013 Transfer Thread

Man you people post a lot.

If we get accepted, we should go to the first orientation date possible and have a CC meetup lol

@Albo23: Sure I hope I would have that day! I thought you are already acceptted to U-M now?

Haha I’m actually going for my third rejection, don’t jinx me.

Albo is right. You guys do post a lot. lol. I definitely think we should all meet up on the first orientation day if we all get accepted. We’ll all sort of know each other in a sense.

To answer your question Dreamingowl, nobody on this forum has received a decision yet. I’m checking WA like 5 times a day since I hit the 6-week processing mark on Tuesday. I’m going to guess that Albo was correct in saying that we won’t receive any decisions until after the October 1st deadline. I applied the day the application opened up, but my app didn’t start processing until August 14th. That date allows the decision (if it really is 6-8 weeks) to become available after the deadline. Otherwise, I would have already received my decision by now and could sleep easier at night. lol

@albo23: Are you applying to Engineering? I saw the other “office chance to U-M Thread” discussion and surprised that there are so many applicants for Engineering which seem competitive. Anyway please receive my best wishes and good luck to you!

@megagamerexe: Hey it seems we posted a lot which means we really care about our application! Good luck to everyone and hopefully we would all have good news! I think we might receive result around mid-end October.

@albo I think u should be the first to receive ur decision lol. And i think u have a really high change of getting in!

Btw im an econ major, and i do hope everyone get in :))

I called UVA the other day and they said they only took 40 people for the whole of spring, so dont bother applying guys! unless u are confident that u will be the one among the 40:)

I’m an Econ major as well, have you finished a lot of prerequisites for LSA? I think the first econ class I would take is Econ 401, Intermediate Microeconomics.

I finished all per reqs for econ. I’m done with both intermediates and an elective. I will prolly do econometrics and a bunch of math classes for my stats. I’m actually 2/3 classes away from finishing my econ requirement Lol.

mIght double econ and stat. Or financial math. So I need a lot of math.

For LSA, I’m almost done. Besides foreign language which I am doing now lol

Can anyone provide a link or brief illustration about the basic foundations for LSA graduation? I mean should we complete for example at least two science, one humalities, one art, at least on social science something like that?

I’ve been listening to this song while waiting

[The Bravery - Time Won’t Let Me Go - YouTube](<a href=“The Bravery - Time Won't Let Me Go - YouTube”>The Bravery - Time Won't Let Me Go - YouTube)

d4wnzz, have you seen this passage in the UofM Econ concentration requirements page?

Did you manage to get an exception somehow because it shows above the two intermediates must be on the AA campus and if you take an Econ elective, that has to be approved in advance?

@Albo, i dont know… But i checked on the credit transfer website, both of my intermediate micros and macros aer transferrable to UMich. I would have to check with the advisors. Or even with Anthony! He took intermediate micro here in pitt, im pretty sure it was transffered cos it was shown on the mich credit transfer site.

@Anthony, was ur intermediate micro transferred??

Btw, intermediate micro is really hard lol…

Could I know will us also receive our admission result from U-M by paper mail except for email? If that was a positive result, would there be any time limit for us to have the decision? Should we say " YES!" immediately or U-M would give us amount of weeks to consider? ( cause I need to discuss financial cost with my parents who are not living in U.S)

You will not receive your decision via mail, it will be sent to your e-mail. You do not have to committ immediately either, you have until December 1st to make a decision.

Thank you! I really hope I can receive the result as soon as possible so that I can sleep with a more settled mood.

@Dreamingowl, I think this link will help

[Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (AB⁄BS)](http://www.lsa.umich.edu/students/academicsrequirements/lsadegreesrequirements/bachelorofartsorbachelorofscienceabfraslbs)

@d4wnzz, My Econ 1100 did transfer but it did as general Econ 1x credit. What that means is UM regards Econ 1100 from Pitt as a 100 level Econ course at UM, which is introductory level Econ. You can petition when you’re at UM to get that counted as Econ 401 but there is no guarantee it’ll work. I never tried it. I did successfully get my Stat 1100 counted as Stats 250 at UM so it could work. I’m also an Econ minor, unless Ross has the Business minor for next year, and I’m actually taking 401 here at UM because even though I ended up with an A- in Econ 1100, I felt like it was only because the rest of the class was so bad and I didn’t really learn anything. I’m only going to try to get Econ 1100 counted as a 300 level Econ course at UM to fulfill a concentration requirement but that’s it.

Well damn. I just spent a good bit researching that issue and set d4wnzz a PM on it and I come here to see your explanation haha.
Anthony, how difficult is Econ 401 at UofM? Do you need anything higher than Calc 1? Any tips on how to survive?

@Dreamingowl - No need to thank me! Do you mind if I ask where you (or your parents) are from? If they don’t live in the US, are you considered an international student?
