I think albo23’s application was complete on August 15th, so his decision should be here very soon.

U-M is really my target this semester. I guess we would be notified soon after fall break in mid-Oct.

Mine was finished the 23rd of August, Megagamerexe’s was finished the 14th or 15th of August. According to UofM’s words, he should get his decision first if it is really “rolling.”

Last year, decisions were released the first day of the second week of October, which was October 10th. Our day should be October 8th.

Here are some official Fall 2012 transfer stats for you: http://i.imgur.com/WNQPi.png

Thank you very much! I submitted my application Sep.21st. This week is the second week from my application. So according to the stats you provided, indeed admission rate is 40%. Good luck to everyone!

albo, those stats are concerning me: they require a “statement of good standing from prior institution” ?

That wasn’t in the Common App.

@wintertransferUM: I guess that refers to recommendations, which professors provide comments on your performance in your institution. Also it might refer to “activities”“Awards” etc. in Common Applications

Yeah we didn’t have to hand in a College Report.

I submitted College Official Report from my academic advisor, and Instructor Evaluation from two of my academic professors.

Ignore that wintertransferUM. It is not really required; it was not required last year nor was it this year.

Also, welcome!

Are any of you planning on going to grad school?

I don’t know if Communication at U-M is good for job hunting, if not, I would apply for graduate school.

I’m planning on Law School. Specifically one in the top 15. I’m really looking at U of M, NYU, and Northwestern right now because they have dual degree programs. What about you Matisyahu?

Same here. I want to go to law school. That was what I was telling Dreamingowl, that my current college GPA and my Umich GPA would combine for law school. She mentioned that it resets, which is true, but law school and other grad schools will look at all of our GPAs.

That is why I was asking if you guys think our GPA will kind of take a hit at U-M. Have you started to study for the LSAT? I kind of have, although people say you should only study for like 5 months max.

For Law school they do not care too much about the major you are in your undergraduate? Some of my friends major in Economics and History went to Law School, while some other students in Antropology or Government also attend.

They don’t care about the major.
What grad school are you planning on?

Guys I think we have the largest Winter transfer thread on CC with ~350 replies and ~7000 views. One of them must have been an admissions officer at UofM accepting us all.

On a more serious note, we won’t be getting decisions this week. I spoke with admissions this evening and they said the people reviewing the applications are traveling and the representative I spoke with (Carrie) said decisions should be released next week or the week after.

@Matisyahu - I’m not going to start studying for the LSAT until I’m in my Junior year. I’ve also been afraid of my GPA taking a hit since I’m coming from Michigan State, which I feel is pretty easy. However, I really want to get something out of my education and the Political Science focusing on American politics is number 1 in the country.

@Dreamingowl - Major doesn’t matter when applying to law school. It really just boils down to GPA and LSAT score.

@megagamerexe people say you should spend around 5 months studying, but I’m also going to study for about 2 years.
Political Science is awesome but I heard the average GPA is around 3.2, and since you want to go to NYU or Northwestern Law, their average GPA is around 3.8/170 LSAT, do you think it is going to be hard?

I’m asking this because I’m also majoring in Political Science.

@Matisyahu - I’m currently an English major, but as soon as I get to U of M, I’m changing it. When I went for the transfer tour, my tour guide was a Political Science major, and he told me that you could get an A or B in the class as long as you did the work. I think it’ll be fine. I’m just excited to start the program.
