Do you guys think it is harder to get in the Winter than the Fall?

It’s impossible to tell, really. Admissions ALWAYS says it’s the same. I can’t think of any reasons or hypotheses as to why it could be different.

i think it would be the same lesser applicants and lesser spots. makes sense to me. 1 more month of wait zz. Anws are u guys coping well with new semester? Its just hard for me to focus lol…

There are fewer spots and fewer applicants than typical in Winter, that is right. But even with fewer spots open, UofM has displayed over and over they are not afraid to over-enroll.

Yeah I find it pretty difficult to focus as well. I just try and do my best maintaining top grades in case I need to re-apply next semester.

d4wnzz are you a chick?
Also what other schools are you applying to - I think I saw you on a NYU thread. Or maybe it was Virginia.

nope im a dude. What other schools u guys applying?

Yea probably, i wanted to apply UVA as well but the spring admission rate is rly low. They take in 40 people only which is really pathetically low. But NYU seems to be possible. Im still pretty unsure which other schools to apply to. Not many choices since its gonna be a spring transfer.

Umich is probably my top choice. I want to apply to UVA too but yeah I heard it is like impossible. I’m thinking Boston College. NYU too but I heard the financial aid is horrible.
If we all get into U-M we should all hang out.

^ I agree haha.

Winter/Spring transferring sucks. Half the schools don’t do it. The ones that do are really shady about acceptances and other information. That’s the reason I didn’t apply to any other schools, UofM was too easy to not apply to (migrated application to W '13, no essay or app fee needed).

Next semester (should I be rejected to UofM) I would apply to N’Western, Emory, UC-Berkeley, Cornell, UPenn, USC-Marshall, and of course UofM.

Try UVA too. I heard their fall acceptance rate is good.

lol if albo doesnt get in to UofM, i dun think i can get in

Not even close haha, you went to Pitt. Going to better colleges gives applicants a leg up.

So does it help at least somewhat that I went to Michigan State, a decently-renowned school within the state of Michigan?

It certainly does not hurt! MSU is about as recognized as Pitt in my mind.

Haha you are all asking questions that are completely out of our influence at this point. Just relax and wait one more month!

I’m so frking nervous omggg

Listen to this song.
Ace Hood - Top of the world.
It always makes me feel better.

So those of us who already have our applications complete should receive our decision starting October?

According to what albo said, the decisions should start being released 4 to 6 weeks after they start processing our applications. I submitted everything on August 1st, and they started processing it on August 14th. Today marks the one month mark, so hopefully I should be receiving a decision soon! Just as an extra precautionary measure, I’m also going to be attending a transfer tour at U of M next Friday. I’ll be sure to let you guys know if I learn any new information about transferring, and/or when I receive my decision. In the meantime, all we can do is wait.

Sept. 11 was the four week mark for your application megagamerexe, Sept. 25th is the six week mark. So unless UofM exaggerated their decision deadline (which they do very often) you are guaranteed to receive your decision by September 25th, which is even before the application deadline.

However, in the Winter 2012 transfer thread last year, no one received a decision before October 9th. The person that did receive their decision first said “I submitted my App and sent my transcripts on August 24th or so. Oh and I didn’t specify, but it’s for LSA.”

Don’t hold your breath on getting your decision before the start of October.

EDIT: megagamerexe - Please update us on whatever they say at that orientation.

Godspeed my friends.
We’ll just have to wait it out.
