Winter 2013 Transfer Thread

I think I’ll try and avoid this forum for a week or so to move my focus away from UofM a bit.

Aww come on.
We’ll miss you too much.
I wonder how many other people on College Confidential are applying to Michigan.

Hey how does Michigan use our GPA?
Do they combine it with the GPA that we get a Michigan? For example, if I wanted to apply to graduate school, would they combine the two GPAs?

When we transfer, we will start earning an entirely new GPA with the other classes that we’ve taken counting just as credit. However, when we apply to grad school, they take all of the classes that we’ve taken before graduating undergrad, and make a GPA for us out of that. I’m assuming that the GPA we will earn at Michigan will be lower than the GPA we applied to transfer with because it is a more challenging school. That being said, the high grades that we earn at other institutions will only be beneficial to us later.

Does anyone know how good the financial aid is for Winter term?

Anyone? XD?

I applied the fall of my senior year for the fall 2011 term, was waitlisted then rejected and then again for summer 2012 and was rejected. Applied for winter 2013 term now. Am at MSU and have 3.56 gpa and will have 45 credits by the end of this year. anybody think I have even a little chance?? Because it is my third time I don’t know if I can take another rejection!! btw…applying to LSA…

@mstudent27 - You and I are virtually in the same boat. I applied for fall 2011 term and was wait-listed and rejected. I’m also at MSU currently, have a 3.78 GPA, and will have 43 credits when by the end of the fall term. I’ve been told that I have a decent shot, and the only thing that could potentially hold me back is my number of credits. Since we aren’t quite at junior level status, our high school credentials will also be used in the decision. If we don’t get in this time, we will definitely be able to get in for Fall 2013 semester. If you don’t mind me asking, what were your high school stats?

@megagamerexe – Ahhh I do feel a sense of relief that I am not the only one in this situation!! For high school, I was in-state, 3.87 gpa, 27 act, ap’s, tons of volunteer, club president, nhs… I’m crossing my fingers for both of us!!

@mstudent27 - I’m an in-state student too. My high school stats are pretty similar to yours also. I had a 4.1 GPA and a 28 ACT score. Since our stats are pretty decent, I think we both have a good chance. When did you apply?

I applied the 12th and my it was received by the 13th…how about you?

I applied August 1st, and it was received on August 14th. I’ll hear back in the next 3 weeks, and when I do, I’ll be sure to let you know the decision. You’ll probably be able to gauge your decision based on it. Best of luck to you!

@mstudent27, I think you have a really good chance man. Make sure you call and confirm that they have everything that makes your application complete. Look on the Wolverine Access also.

I called today. Decisions should com out 6-8 weeks after your application has been completed.

I’m back. Megagamerexe, did you go to that transfer tour today?

Still waiting lol.

Hey guys. I’m actually still at Michigan now. There wasn’t any information that was said that we didn’t already know. They went over the transfer application, and took us on a tour of the campus. It’s just awful because it’s one of those so close, yet so far away situations. My 6 week after processing mark starts on Tuesday, so hopefully I’ll have some happy news to report soon!

How’re the people, and do a lot of people wear Michigan clothes?

^ Yes people wear a bunch of UofM clothes do you not have any UofM clothing ? curious why you keep asking about the clothing ? especially on Game-days (Maize) & there is an MDen if you don’t have any UofM clothing goodluck on the transfer process everyone !

@Matisyahu - The people were really nice and friendly. Although, I do have a bit of a bias considering I mostly hung out with my friends who attend U of M after the tour. Still, I did meet some new people and they all were pretty cool. Of course a lot people wear Michigan clothes. At any large university, you can’t go a couple minutes without seeing some school apparel.

@UOFMTRANSFER1 - Are you applying as a transfer this semester or did you already transfer?
