Winter 2014 Transfer Thread

I am trying to figure out if I can somehow get my credits recognized properly and reapply. Do you plan to attempt this, or are you just going to let it be?

If you’re doing anything similar, I’m interested in hearing what progress you’ve made and sharing my own. I’m not comfortable discussing the details publicly, though. I don’t have enough posts to private message here. If you want you can direct message me on twitter (same username).

Sure thing. Sent a request.

Anyone else NOT get a response back from UMich yet?

I haven’t.

Same here. Hopefully it’ll be out soon

my bf also got accepted mail today.
His major is Chemistry and gpa is 3.78

I was accepted last week!! Excited to be part of the Michigan community. As far as my stats they are pretty much on par with what the majority of folks who post to this thread have. Nothing absurdly high, albeit very very good. Evidence of hard work is naturally what they’re looking for.

Does anybody know if theres a transfer group on facebook just to get some dialogue going?

Accepted and attending! I have a 3.6 GPA from a top 10 university, majoring in engineering. Very VERY excited to be a Wolverine!

@Connordonald – I haven’t seen a transfer facebook group, but that’s definitely a good idea!

Hi guys hope it was not too late to saw this thread. I was accepted at around the beginning of the month and have a gpa of 3.6+. However I am still a bit anxious since my bf who loved Umich so much haven’t heard from it yet. So fingers crossed for all of us I guess :)

-Connordonald: a fb page sounds good!

Hi, anyone haven’t get decision from umich yet?

2 months have passed and still no response from college of engineering. I am freaking out!!!

Same here. No response yet.

To those transferring into engineering and haven’t heard.

I applied to the CoE at Umich for admittance Fall 2013 (this current semester). I applied through the common app on 11/30/12. REALLY early! I had a solid GPA and was on track for completing all required pre-req transfer courses by Fall 2013. Many of my peers got in between January 2013 - March 2013.

I found out May 30th I was accepted. Literally months after many of my peers. And 6 months after I applied! One of my good friends transferring in to ChemE didn’t receive his acceptance notification until after summer semester ended! Although some responses where late, there wasn’t anybody I knew who didn’t get accepted (into CoE).

I transferred from Washtenaw community college. I heard from both the transfer coordinator at WCC and an Electrical Engineering Prof. at Umich, if you have a GPA better than posted on: [Admissions Requirements | Michigan Engineering](http://www.engin.umich.edu/college/admissions/undergrad/transfer/requirements) and you have completed all classes required. You will get in. (this is in regards to CoE only)

I have no E.C’s and dropped out of HS. I was admitted into CS-Eng. Good luck guys!

I submitted my winter 2014 application to CoE on October 15th and I still haven’t heard from them. I was told they have until the end of December to notify applicants of their decisions!

Was just accepted to LSA for Econ and math from an out of state school. So thrilled!

@thes1tuation
I saw you were accepted to NYU CAS as well. I was accepted to UMich for econ and math too, but still haven’t heard from NYU. I am a NY resident btw.
Which school do you think is better in econ? I wonder if I should just accept UMich and forget about NYU, since the cost would be about the same for both for me.

@mochiboo55, honestly I think the difference at the undergraduate level is trivial. You’re going to have the same graduate and job opportunities at either school, so just pick the school you like more. I personally would have preferred living in New York but I got into Michigan Honors and can’t afford NYU (Maybe I should have applied to Columbia)

@thes1tuation thanks for advice! how do you get into michigan honors as a transfer btw?
do you have to fill out a separate app?
