Winter 2017 Transfer Thread

@Aharris1105 they only take into account the credits on your transcript? I applied before getting my AA degree, but will be receiving it by the end of this fall quarter. Does that mean that they consider me as a transfer applying with, or without an AA degree?

Im guessing with, because when filling out the application there was a box that asked if I would be receiving an AA degree before attending the UW

@uwwinter17 having the 90 credits is what I think they care about the most and having 90 credits usually means you have your AA or will be receiving your AA. If you do not have I think 40 credits then they look at your SAT or ACT scores and your high school transcript. If you have more than 40 then they take just your CC transcript and personal essay in consideration. My basing on this is when I applied for the Autumn 2016 quarter they told me I only had 25 credits so they went based off that and my high school transcript, which if I am going to be honest not too good. However, I have read that they like to see that you have changed since high school or like to see a progression in your grades which I have. I just didn’t have at least 40 credits by the time I applied in the fall. I was thinking that they would count my winter and spring quarter but they didn’t because they didn’t keep up with my grades like they do for freshmen applicants.

Hopefully we start hearing back this week.

Nothing

So I reached out to admissions to ask them about receiving our letters and the housing availability and this is what they said

"Thank you for contacting UW Admissions!

Unfortunately, there is a chance that you will not be informed of your admission decision before the 21st. There is a chance that you will be able to get housing on-campus, but there are also many off-campus housing opportunities in close proximity to the UW campus."

why so late?

I hate this. I have to register for classes on Friday I dont know what to do.

The 21st, after mostly everyone currently enrolled in in-state community colleges have to register for classes… Thanks UW!! Well, I’m going to register for classes tomorrow and see what happens. If I get in, hopefully I can find housing/get a refund on these classes.

I am so disappointed. I have to pay tuition and everything and they probably wont even having housing for us.UW has always been the worst when it comes to admission decisions

Don’t they have housing put aside for transfer students?

I’m fairly certain they have housing for transfer students, but it still sucks that we won’t hear until after the most of us need to register for classes at other schools.

@UWwinter2017 could you register for classes now, and then drop them and get a refund if you get into UW? I think most CC have drop and refund dates.

If admitted, I’d be traveling from the east coast to there. The longer I wait to buy plane tickets and such, the more expense it’s going to be. I don’t like that they’re basically asking us to halt everything and wait for their decision. The applications closed September 1st, there’s no reason that they shouldn’t have an idea of who will and will not be admitted.

i was supposed to notify bothell about my acceptance a while ago but im not sure how long they’ll have a spot for…

@hoping4uw0323 I’m sure I could do that but it’s just annoying that I have to go through thid hassle when they could easily just release the decisions

@uwtransferguy2017 It doesn’t seem like they have housing set aside for transfer students. When you look on the housing website it says that housing it not guaranteed for both matriculated and nonmatriculated students for winter 2017.

@UWwinter2017 I completely understand. This entire situation is ridiculously unfair.

I hope there is some kind of housing available once we do find out. It would suck not having a place to live once we get there.

yeah. If we live off campus in one of the apartments then we will be paying just as much as the west campus dorms but less amenities plus it’s going to be harder to make friends off campus

Do the apartments off campus come furnished?

The Commodore Duchess which the UW says offers places for students is full the whole academic year. I am not sure about Radford Court though.
