Winter 2017 Transfer Thread

@UWwinter2017 I think you should go with what language you feel like learning since that is a big part of the major and they highly encourage studying abroad for intensive language training. Before I even started at my CC I thought I wanted to learn Korean (plus they didn’t offer it) but I felt like Mandarin would be more useful so I wound up taking all three quarters of it.

@UWwinter2017 I didn’t know they do it in waves. Monday would be the second wave i guess. I am started to feel anxious and nervous about this. I wish they told us if we got in like weeks ago. This is very frustrating now, I hope we all get in.

@Aharris1105 Fingers crossed I get in. I will most likely try to get into business but if not I think I’ll concentrate on India since I have been learning Hindi since I was 9.

@Girlygirl256 I completely agree with you. I’m hoping we find out Monday but you never know. I mean past 3 years some people found out on Nov. 5 and we’re still waiting.

@UWwinter2017 my professor/advisor said that I could do Asian studies for my bachelor’s degree and then get my masters in business. That way companies that are abroad will want to work with me. If you don’t get into business now you could go that route also. If you wanted to. I am super nervous because I am on the UW’s website and it is making me nervous because the highest priority is given to people with 90 credits and at the time of submitting my transcript I only had 55.
:frowning:

@Aharris1105 thank you for the great advice. I’ll definitely look into it. I’m trying to remain calm but it’s really hard. I just want to find out already whatever the decision may be. I’m just hoping we all find out on Monday we’ve been waiting from September

@UWwinter2017 yeah true. I wonder why they took so long in the application process. I dont believe that many people applied for Winter Quarter as much as people would for Fall Quarter.

I’m guessing it probably took a long time because with the fall quarter you have a whole senior class that is graduating so there is more room for new students. With winter they have to see if there is space for new people who want to apply during that time.

Tomorrow is another day. Let’s hope for some good news this week!

This week better be the best week of this year. I have my hopes up im scared

I honestly think if we really are rejected they would have told us a while ago. I dont know, I guess that’s just me trying to be positive and hoping something good will come out of all of this wait.

@nicolasr thank you so much!

@UWwinter2017 yeah they absolutely do waves, I’m from Seattle and I think those decisions come out first just because we’re a lot closer! Good luck!!!

@Girlygirl256 your positivity is certainly welcomed, we need it!!

@Girlygirl256 Exactly. I just don’t want to be heartbroken after so much waiting and anticipation

@UWwinter2017 I know that heartbreak. I got rejected over the summer for the Fall 2016 quarter. It was supposed to be a happy time too because I was on vacation. The plus side though is the UW was able to tell me why I didn’t get in and it was a credits issue I only had 25 so they took into account my high school grades which were not too great. But now that I have over 40 credits my high school grades won’t be as much of a factor and they said to apply for the winter quarter.

@Aharris1105 I experienced it too. It’s literally the worst thing ever. I was already a mess because of the situation I was in and on top of that UWs rejection was like a slap in the face that I’m not good enough for them. I don’t want it to happen again so I’m genuinely scared.

@UWwinter2017 yeah it hurt so bad that I almost did not want to apply again and I was ashamed to go back to my CC because people around me kept talking me up saying that I would get in. Then while visiting my dad who does not care much for my choice of major I have to find out I was rejected and I have to go tell him with my tail between my legs. If I don’t get in this time I’m going to try to not be sad about it, I’m just going to finish up my AA and apply for the Autumn 2017 quarter.

I didnt get accepted to UW when I applied as my senior year in highschool because i had “meh” grades lol. However, I did make alot of improvements at a community college in Washington and I’m hoping that’s going to be worth something to UW.

@Aharris1105 that’s a good sign! Atleast right now the admission team is going to look at your application and see that you’re working hard and getting a good amount of credits.
