How long are your winter breaks and what are you all doing to keep yourselves busy?

My break lasts a little over a month and seems way too long. I don't really know what to do with myself, and I know I'll get bored after New Year's. FUN IDEAS?

I think its almost 5 weeks. I basically work the entire time. I have to do a bit of studying. Watch tv. Gather recipes and do some cooking experiments (its a hobby). Hang out with friends. Shop for stuff I need (when I’m home my parents pay for it. ;D

3 weeks. 1 week has gone by and i already miss classes, learning, and being busy. I can only do so much of shopping, watching tv, scrapbooking and posting on silly forums before i want to get the heck out of AK. Ugggghh being home stinks…trying to keep busy by exercising and catching up on my reading list.

I am very very bored. Trying to see my friends who are not away on family vacation. I actually can’t come up with anything productive to do so I just watch a lot of internet TV.

I’ve been reading comics, mostly. I didn’t have time to read everything that I wanted during the semester, so I’m catching up now. Currently, I’m reading Neil Gaiman’s Sandman (amazing) and a book on the cold war.

I’ve also been going out to the gym and hanging out. I value my vacation time since I’m pretty busy during the semester.

Mine is around 3 weeks. Have to leave this Sunday… Just been with the family, went shopping, and be a bum. Could’ve been in Florida right now if my break were longer…

Mine’s about 4 weeks and I have about 3 left. It’s been reeaaaally boring. All my friends are “away” somewhere traveling, doing church stuff, etc… I’m not saying I’d rather be doing HW and work right now but I sure miss college =/ Winter break wasn’t exactly what I expected: all buddies anxious to catch up and meet again but it aint really happenin’ even when I take the initiative to ask if they wanna hang out

4 weeks, 1.5 weeks over with…
I have been doing the most random stuff such as trying to plan my next semester and planning my transfer app etc (even though I’m not planning on transferring for another 3 semesters…). I’ve also been reading Cal newport’s studyhacks blog which is actually really interesting and I think I will definitely implement some of his tips.

Also I’m taking driving lessons every days for 2 hours a day so that I can finally get my license this year and apart from that I am pretty much bored out my mind. I’m also reading this book called men’s Health girl next door which is kinda interesting…

Technically 2 weeks but I had 3 weeks because of a fortunate finals schedule. My family has never really vacationed during winter break. It’s equally as boring as my K-12 winter breaks except with more conflicting expectations.

As usual, it’s almost about that time where I start to miss school a bit.

My winter break is approximately 32 days, but for the last 14 days I will be working at the library. I’m keeping busy by teaching myself physics using MIT OCW/acquiring texts online. I also bought some really good books on number theory and genetics. :]

For me: 4 weeks. I’m not bored because all throughout high school I’ve been used to not having to depend on others for fun, since their idea of fun involved drugs…So I pretty much been replaying KH2. I love the KH series so I’m having a blast! I’ve also been sorting through and completing scholarships, which is really hard for me to do while at college. I’ve been shopping a lot due to generous Christmas money. I plan to hang out with friends before I go back, but here are other things I still have to distract me if I start to feel bored:

Lord of the Rings Marathons
Plenty of books to read
Other Movies to watch
Fresh Prince of Belair DVDs
The History Channel (Totally dorky of me, but I love some of the series on it, I don’t usually watch it in college albeit it’s available)
Japanese entertainment collection (I have hours of video to watch)
Visit High school
Look for internships
complete more scholarships

Seeing as I only have about 2 and half more weeks, I think I’ll be okay; but next year, I’m going to try to secure employment. I wanted to this year, but I figured it would better to relax after my first semester of college. It’s kinda scary because I’m getting close to the point in life where all I’ll have is work. I better enjoy not having to while I can. That’s how I see it.
