I guess it's a little early to fuss with this, but it would help with what I need to pack. I know that the dorms are closed during winter break and we have to move out, but can we still leave stuffs there? or do we have to cleanout just like in June?

no you don't have to "move out". you have to leave campus for winter break but all your stuff can stay. what should you pack? probably enough clothes to last you winter break and any valuables you need or want to take (laptop, camera, any work you might want to do...). just look at it as a longer thanksgiving break.

except the beautiful thing about the quarter system is that we really won't have work over winter break :) :) :)

tis true, thank god

Did you guys get that postcard about the big stanford-cal game right before Thanksgiving break? My dad had bought plane tickets for me to come home the day of the game, and is willing to buy a new one for the day after if I want (the original ticket can't be changed or refunded)...I feel guilty taking up his offer. Is it worth it? I'm not a big football fan, but if it is the event of the year, I don't want to miss it...Any advice?

The Big Game gets hyped up to freshmen year after year. I think everyone should experience it once, but after that no one really bothers. In fact, there are usually more Berkeley fans even when it's played at Stanford! I don't think it's worth the price of another plane ticket, but that's up to you to decide. However, even if the plane ticket is non-changeable and non-refundable, you can often get credit for it after you "miss" your flight.

all the students i've talked to say you should def attend the "big game", esp frosh year. and the reason there are more cal students at the games, even at stanford, is because cal is so close and there are 40,000+ students as oppose to stanfords 14,000.

STAY FOR BIG GAME!!!!!
If not for Big Game, stay for the basketball...
and if not for the basketball, AT LEAST come to Gaieties! It's going to be freaking awesome this year.

Also, there's no way we can be worse than last year (41-6). And it's a home game, so it's not like you're wasting a day, because you could just leave if it was that awful.

Do It.
