I just thought Id mention that I went to Winter Carnival last week. It did a lot to reassure me that I made the right choice.
Ive rarely been around happier-healthier people in my life. Everyoneeverywhere you lookedwas smiling, laughing and enjoying themselves and their friends.
I spent most of the time skating.
My family was with me and I spent a lot of the time with my six year old brother Tristan.

When we returned home, he had to do a little project in first grade that required him to make one wish and draw a picture of it.

He wrote,
I wish that I could live with my family for 100 years at Dartmouth, skating and eating ice-cream.

Underneath he drew a picture of Baker Library with the Snow-ship in front of it and the pond behind it with him skating in the middle.

I think maybe you have to be 6yrs old to appreciate beauty like that.:)

Glad you had a great time. I sent you a PM

hah, your brother is a nerd lol
just kidding :P

Newbyreborn,

Tristan says,
If you weren't from Canada, he'd have to kick your behind (he's a patriot)....there's no nerds at dartmouth or in the school he currently attends:cool:

aw. that is so incredibly adorable. in keeping with the "could it be fate" thread, I think it's your fate to get into Dartmouth, so that your little brother has a much better shot at getting in when he applies, because it's also HIS fate to go to Dartmouth.

or maybe I should go study for government and stop waxing philosophical? lol.

ETA: my brother (2 and a half) only said that he'd draw me pictures and send them to me when I leave...it was my sister and cousin who were like "NO. You're going to Penn so we can get on a train and visit you whenever we want after a two hour trip." They were so ****ed when I said my first choice was Dartmouth lol

Blurinka,

same with my brother. I'm also from North Jersey and they push Penn really hard in my school so I had to consider it. It's about a 2 hour drive whereas Dartmouth is 5-5 1/2. Now he loves dartmouth but I can tell he's anxious about the idea of me leaving.:(

sorry, i was kidding, anyway, at least u got in! congrats. i really hope to get in :(, poor stats though :(
any advice for me?

fountainsiren,

you sound way too wholesome. lol
perfect for d-mouth;)

newbyreborn,

sure, don't call my brother a geek:mad:

Really though, I think being from Canada could help. I'm Canadian myself, but I don't recall what sort of relationships is formed between GC's and students. If you don't currently have a close relationship with your GC, get one.

Then beg them to call and mention how truly phenomenal you are + any academic achievements that were not quantifiable in your application. Have them mention that you are a true green lover of Dartmouth etc. etc.

Kaleidoscope,

You have no idea
.really, you have no idea;) You dont have to be wholesome to love your brother or Dartmouth, although, it may make it easier:cool:

I'm out of here..........it's friday night and I'm a wholesome girl;)

Enlighten me, I'm in sore need of your esoteric ideas:

What's a wholesome girl do on a friday night?

(study for exams; pray for an end to poverty; drink milk)

LMAO!

"wholesome" was seriously one of the adjectives I used for myself for the 'list 5 words to describe yourself' thing...my mom and GC actually came up with it when we were meeting with my GC lol.

Kal,
Wholesome girls can also...go to the library! plan clothing drives to homeless shelters or battered women's recovery houses! go shopping for grandma cardigans and turtlenecks, and even sweater-vests!
