<p>My son is home and has indicated that the heavyweight zip up hoodie that he wears every day is not warm enough when the temperature drops. Looking for suggestions for an appropriate coat/jacket that would be warm enough but not too heavy and possibly water resistant. </p>
<p>Also…will he need something other than tennis shoes/sperry’s for the winter weather?</p>
<p>My kids are a big fan of the Clarks waterproof sheepskin lined boot. They are lined with real sheep shearling for warmth.</p>
<p>I bought each son a pair at least 5 years ago and they still wear them in the winter. They really do last a long time.</p>

<p>Even though they are waterproof, I do spray them with Scotchguard for extra protection.</p>
<p>As for a jacket…I got my kids a Columbia hooded jacket that has two parts…the outer part is waterproof and the inner part is fleece. The inner part can be worn alone as a more simple jacket. Got them on sale at Kohls.</p>
<p>Definitely need waterproof and a hood is a very good idea.</p>

<p>yeah, i would suggest a jacket with a zip out liner that can be worn as liner only, liner plus outer part or outer part only. that should work.</p>
