I'm taking a class this winter that is required for my major and the final is on January 31. If, after taking the final, I'm sure that I got a certain grade -- would it be alright to include this on the update on the day of the deadline without actually seeing my grade? I'd appreciate any help/insight.

I would suggest talking to the professor. For example, if you pretty much had a stable grade the whole semester, can he or she pretty much predict what you'll get? This is a tough one but I think it depends on wether the class is difficult or easy.

im on the same boat... im taking pre-req class during winter.... just to let u know it's ur decision you could or you dont have to put ur winter grades..

I would not do it unless you have conformation from your professor about what you are getting in the class. If you put a grade on the update and some how you get a lower grade you will be in very big trouble.

i'm willing to take that risk. what i'm not sure about is if the admissions people will see that i entered the grade before the semester could possibly be over (the final is on jan 31, but the semester doesn't officially end until early-mid feb), and how they will look at this. So if anybody answers this question, i'll be happy.

I'm on the fence as far as my grades go, so i could use all the help i can get. Yes, i know that the winter session doesn't count for UC GPA. Thank you!

My advice would be to make a quick note about it in the comments box beneath the term, just so that they know in advance.

Just so they know what exactly?

If you know what you are getting for sure then put it and if you felt it give you a better advantage (liek say you're getting an A in that class) however, if it's wrong, before they even admit (which is in march-april) your grade when then be out anways, if it different from predicted just call in to the campus and let them notify the changes and said that you made a mistake.

Only include information that you are 100% sure about when you submit the update form. I would recommend submitting the update form with the information you have by January 31, if you applied to any campuses that have the early priority deadline, and then resubmitting the update form by the February 15 deadline when you receive your grade information. I can’t guarantee that campuses with the earlier deadline will receive the updated information, but the others should.
