Will winter session grades affect my UC transferrable GPA or are fall grades the cut off?

whatever grades are available by the update I would assume!

@redoplease: so if the winter grade is available by the time we update, we can update it too? Because I know some of the people who also updated their winter grades last year, hmm

Does anyone know the cut off date?

@berkeleyphil-well I think it’s only fair that you should be able to, esp if you have the grade…
but maybe get intouch with UC lol

Here’s the UC application update email from last year that should answer your questions. Enjoy ;]

Dear Transfer Applicant, UC Application ID: xxxxx

Thank you for applying to the University of California for the fall 2010 term. We are reviewing your application and need the following additional information:

• An updated list of your fall 2009 courses with all associated grades

• A list of any additional coursework in progress or planned through summer 2010

To update your information you will need your UC application ID number, which is listed above. Log on to our website and complete the Application Update form at:

[University of California - Update transfer application](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/appupdate)

You should complete an Application Update form as soon as you receive your final grades for your fall 2009 coursework. After your initial submission of the form, you can return to the Application Update website to update any in-progress or planned coursework. Even if you do not have any in-progress or planned courses, or your record of course grades was complete in your original application, you must still fill out this form.

Please note that each campus and program may have additional procedures and requirements for handling application updates. Contact the admissions office at the campus(s) to which you have applied with specific questions.

We strongly advise you to meet the priority deadlines for each campus to which you have applied. On-time updates ensure that your latest grades and in-progress or planned coursework are considered in the admissions process. There is no guarantee that campuses will accept updates after their stated deadlines, and failure to meet the deadline may jeopardize your admission.

The priority deadline for fall 2010 is January 31, 2010 for all campuses.

There is no need to wait for winter intersession grades – fill in the form without them. You may submit another update if your winter intersession grades become available before the deadline.

If your planned coursework changes or you receive D or F grades in winter coursework after the application update deadline, then you must notify the admissions office at each UC campus to which you applied.

UC Berkeley Applicants:

UC Berkeley requires its applicants to complete additional forms, available at:

admissions.berkeley.edu

The Berkeley forms should be completed in addition to the systemwide form.

Thank you for your attention. We look forward to learning more about your progress.

Sincerely,

So if we want and if the winter session grades are available by Jan 31, we can update our winter grades too right?

I just read a few articles that said the last deadline for updating grades is feb. 15. I’m not quite sure if the winter session grades are factored into the admission process. But, I think I might just call UCLA on monday to confirm all of this.

^when you find out can you also post here? That would greatly help some of us on here. Thanks!

Will do, I know alot of people are curious.

Thanks Wizard. I am also interested in this information.

@wizard55: were you able to call UCLA today? I’m also curious about it.

I went to UCLA’s website and they wrote that the information center will not be available until after new years…so I guess we all have to wait = /

I don’t think the Winter grades will change your UC gpa before they look at it, or I don’t think they will factor the Winter grades when deciding to admit you or not. The reason being: It gives tranfers an advantage over the other transfers who don’t have winter intersession, since not all community colleges offer winter sessions.
