Winter Mini-Session?

My local community colleges offer a 4 week mini-session from Dec 14-Jan 8, has anyone ever taken a class over winter break? How was it?

I'm looking to take M408M btw.

I imagine it would be VERY intense.

Currently, I’m doing a summer semester here at UT - which is 5 weeks long - mmm… yeah…I don’t even want to know how it’d be if it were cut down to even less time. That’s just imo.

However - I’m taking 2 classes…so maybe if you just do one class, you’ll be able to focus on it more…

I took a Calculus class at HCC Stafford during the Winter mini-term and got an A in the class while learning the material. I suggest it only if you just need the credit (e.g. Business major).

I dont think it’ll be as INTENSE as @sasha says… because you’ll be at a CC

i am currently taking hist1301 at my community college in a 5 week class. it’s not too bad. basically, you teach yourself and have 2 tests (a midterm and final), 2 essays (midterm and final), and a couple of quizzes.

I’ve already taken Cal 1(M408K) and govt 2301 in the first hcc summer 5 week session, and I am currently taking Cal 2(M408L) and govt 2302 in the 2nd five week session; so I know I can handle classes in 5 weeks.

The problem is that cal 2 is currently pretty demanding for me right now so I can’t imagine taking an even harder class (cal 3) in even less time. :/

But on the other hand I don’t want to wait a whole year between finishing cal 2 and starting cal 3 because I’m afraid I will forget everything. But I am also not smart enough to take M408M at UT…

so what is a man to do?

frenchboy: desole mon erreur! i missed that point. mmm, yes, it most likely wouldn’t be as intense, but still compressed because of the time. it could be a good thing or not; depends on the profs.

bump for post #6

onthefly - Just take Calc III (408M) at UT. That’s what I’m doing this upcoming fall semester. The 408M professors are great from the Myedu reviews and they give generous amount of A’s (31% & 34%). So it’s not too bad. I’m pretty sure you’ll be ready enough. :)
