Can anyone tell me what winter fraternity rush is like. The structure, size, competitiveness, etc. Also do legacies help at all?

More competitive than fall because most frats are looking for a winter pc of like 6-10 instead of 20+. Legacies always help.

What are the benefits of frats and sororities? Is all just partying or are there professional types? Can it be put on a resume?

anyone know about rushing as a first semester junior? i am transferring to Umich for Winter term and i am thinking about rushing ?? any advice?

Generally rush is usually freshman and some sophomores… I haven’t heard of juniors rushing, although I’m sure its been done before.

Chickenfried,

Rushing as a junior will most likely put you at a disadvantage in getting bids, at least to “top” frats. They want freshmen. There are certainly frats that won’t care about your year though, you just gotta look for them.

Also headed2great,
There are professional fraternities on campus. I’ve heard of: chem frat, dental frat, business frat, medical frat, engineering frat, engineering sorority, etc. and there are probably more.

What are the benefits of joining these frats.

No idea. I’m sure you can find information on their websites.

Professional frats usually have more professional opportunities and less partying.
