Winter session classes

I’m currently a freshman in college and I’m thinking of taking classes over the winter. I’m planning on taking english 1302 freshman composition II) online and hist 1377 (basic core history class) at HCC (houston community college) since it’s cheaper and the university I attend don’t provide these classes over the winter. But these two classes are 4 weeks long so im guessing that its gonna be pretty tough and time-consuming. Should I go on and take 2 classes or only take 1 if I at least want SOME rest during the winter break…? If anyone has taken winter classes in HCC, I’d like to hear how your experience was!

Winter session is very time consuming. If you really want to get some rest, only take one class. An easy one like history.

  1. Make sure the credits would transfer
  2. Only take one class as it is very compressed
  3. Make sure the topic is compatible with an online clss

Bopper is on the money with those recommendations. Another thing to consider is that taking an intensive winter class has you starting the spring semester already feeling a little tired or even burned out (most of the time, there’s just a weekend between the end of the winter class and the beginning of the spring semester), which could lead to illness or just general malaise. YMMV, of course.
