Winter Track Thread

Who else here is doing it. I just posted in another topic which reminded me it starts in another 2 weeks (My xc season is over, didn't even break 17...... don't ask)

I'm really excited about this year because I get to go to Nike Indoor Nationals, we got a pretty ill DMR, with 3/4 people returning, me being the only new person. Here are our times:

1200m: xx (Never ran it, 4:33 mile outdoors last year as a freshman, this is me for the record)
400m: 51 (Pretty weak, but this is another freshman time)
800m: 1:59 (Sophomore time, relay split. Best open was 2:00 even)
Mile: 4:29 (PR from sophomore year, ran outdoors)

No seniors :D We're still going to get ass-raped, but it's going to be pretty sick in 2 years.

And we're going to the Brown Invitational, as well as Yale. Those are the three overnight trips. I only went to Brown last year, so it should be fun.

So, discuss.

400M: 51!!! Pretty weak, my ass…Holy crap! I’m a junior and last year I ran a 55.5 and that got me 7th at our Conference meet. At districts anything 51 seconds and faster would get you to state (Class C-1, Nebraska).

That was during “normal track” season. We don’t have winter track here. Does your school have an indoor facility to practice on or what?

We go to a local catholic school that has a 200m indoor track right before important meets, only so no one gets sick, otherwise we practice outdoors on our track.

And 51 is weak, I can only run a 56, but 51 in a nationals race would get eaten up, in the first heat usually the slowest splits are high 49.

Last year (we have no sprinters) as a freshman in this meet he ran a 53 got ate alive.

Yeah I think the guy who won state in texas ran like a 46.

Well you’re in Nebraska (right?), so there’s probably not as many runners (I’m assuming). All placers at my county’s winter conference run sub 51s.

I’m doing both indoor and outdoor track (4th and last season for each for me). I PR’d with a 50.4 last winter, so I’m planning on breaking 50 (I went sub-50 last spring, and I did a lot of off-season training, so it shouldn’t be too difficult, barring any injury).

We won last season’s division title but didn’t do too well at the State Meet of Champions. It sucks cause we lost a lot of seniors, and it doesn’t look as if we have any freshman prodiges on which we could build a strong team.

With the times you gave you guys wouldn’t cause much of a stir but that team could seriously win Nationals next year.

What school do you go to?

Look through my post history. :D

I already PM’d my name to 3 differne tpeople in another thread and I don’t want to compromise my security more but it’s probably pretty easy to figure out…

And unfortunately we won’t win nationals, our times look good but looking further into it.

Mile: 4:29 (Same time he ran his freshman year, hasn’t got worse nor improved)
800m: 1:59 (Has so many injuries, didn’t break 18 this xc season… needs a lot of endurance
1200m: 4:33 mile (I also had a horrible xc season)
400m: 51 (Kid doesn’t try, natual talent)

and there are schools like liverpool in my homesatate with a 7:44 4x800, with a 152 fresh so i dont think we could win but top 5 would be nice. :D

Liverpool has a 1:52 freshman? :O

Woops, he actually is 1:54…

Zavon Watkins 1:56.9, Chris Clemons 1:58.2, Alex Wilke 1:57.7, Colin Savage 1:54.9

There splits the time there ran the 7:46 (I was off by two seconds, all have run faster this is just what they ran in that one race)

And they aren’t even the best all underclassmen team… I can’t wait to race them this year. :D

Savage is a senior.

Zavon Watkins is a freshman who ran 1:54, just not in that race.

lol are you trevor dunbar, i’m guessing not but if you were, that’d be insane.

that’s disapointing, i thought i was talking to the snow 2-mile legend. :P
