Winter Transfer Thread

Hey guys! I know it’s still a month or so before we hear back but the wait is killing me!

. What did you all apply with? ex. major/gpa/in or out of state/credits

Why is no one posting to this thread yet?! Answers might start in 15 days! I applied for computer science but they said that they don’t accept applicants in winter quarter so I’m not applying to my major directly as an instate student. The stress is all starting to build up now

Bump

Hi guys, I am an in state transfer. I applied to the UW Foster School of Business for Winter 2018. Concentration in Entrepreneurship Here are my stats. I plan to graduate this fall at my community college.

College Credits: 101 ( after graduation) (61 during Running Start)

Cumulative GPA: 3.84

Pre-Admin GPA: 3.925

WSA Score: Unknown (I don’t feel to good about it though:( )

SAT Score: 1200 (I will be retaking it even though I don’t need to submit my scores - I have over 40 transferable credits)
Extra Curricular:

  • Student Government Vice President for CC (under 1 year)
  • Community Service ( 6 years, don’t know how many hours, been working exclusively for local
food bank for the past 6 months).
  • Sports (basketball & track) and Chess Club in high school
  • Part time job

Other things to note:

  • grew up living with 10 other siblings
  • Ethiopian
  • Have career plan for after UW graduation

Hopefully I have a chance, and best of luck to everyone!!

My plan is general admit for Winter and then apply to CSE or ACMS in Spring.

I attended college 15 years ago, dropped out with GPA 2.8 or so (hard to calculate from foreign school). Current GPA at in-state community college is 4.0.

My big worries are: I’ve only taken one class per quarter at community college and most of them are repeated from 15 years ago. And I’ve got 90+ credits.

Are there any other mature students here?

The notification period starts in two days! Good luck to everyone

Has anyone called and asked when it starts in november?

Anyone got any word ?

No i called them today they said they will start sending acceptences mid November-start of December

For those of us attempting to transfer from an out of state institution the late notice kind of blows.

You guys heard of the transcript trick ?

@LP117343 @Hockey1School2 what’re your guys’s stats btw? if you don’t mind my asking

Also, what is the transcript trick?

Instate
Gpa:3.83
ACT:21(Crap)
Sat:950(crap)

@HopefullyCsGrad

The trick: I’ll explain the unofficial transcript trick. It doesn’t work for everyone but if it works, then you’re pretty much in. It tends to load up to a week prior to receiving the acceptance letter.

To check if yours loaded, you’ll need to log into MyUW using your NetID. To create your NetID, you basically use the same username and password you used to apply to the university. Once you’re logged in, you either use the “Quick Links” to the right side of the screen, or the left side panel.

To check via the right panel, you click on “Financial Aid” or “Registration” or any link that takes you to a page with multiple columns of links on the top of the page. Among those links, you should be able to see “Unofficial Transcript”. To check via the left panel, you go to “Admissions” then click on “After Being Admitted”. You’ll see the “Unofficial UW Transcript” link.

If it loads with a Student ID number, you’re 99.9% in. It won’t start loading until a week before the notification period. The decision letters are sent in batches, so not every transcript will load on the same day. It also doesn’t work for everyone, meaning that you are not declined just because it didn’t load. Hope this explained everything!

Try checking your transcripts and tell me what shows up.

THis is what shows up for me : Student Personal Services

The Student Personal Services are available to current and former UW students (enrolled since 1983).

If you are a current or former UW student please contact registrar@uw.edu and let us know

Your UW Student Number,
Your UW NetID,
What time you encountered this error,
Which Personal Service you were attempting to use,
What browser you are using (browser name and version),
What type of computer you are using (PC, Unix, Macintosh) and the computer’s operating system (Windows 2000, XP, MacOS X, etc),
Whether you are connecting through the campus network, the UW modem pool, an outside internet service provider, or from a corporate network.

------------disclaimer--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it might be too early. I honestly don’t know. I called them and they told me to basically wait.

I know that registration for winter orientation opens tomorrow. Maybe some people will hear back then?

I’ve heard registration is crazy… will there be any classes open for us to take if we get in?

I’m obsessively checking my transcript every day. Nothing yet…

So, I was told that by the end of the month is when we should hear an answer.

The confirm your enrollment link is updated, uw seattle is now on it if you got in. Im not sure if it’ll keep getting updated through the next month
