Thanks a lot!

No wireless in welch. we had a router though and many other suites did too. good investment.

Ah I see. Do they have LAN? with the router would we be able to gt free internet or would we need something else?

yes, they do. but i never used it.

I thought all the dorms were wireless…where else isn’t?

Old Campus is generally not wireless - at least, it was very spotty at best when I lived there, though they’ve recently improved wireless in the colleges so maybe it’s gotten an upgrade too. But there is certainly high-speed wired internet, and you can use that to set up your own router if you really don’t like keeping your computer plugged into ethernet.

If you never used LAN what did you use? Are most places on campus not wireless?

and yeah I think I might bring a router then

The libraries are wireless as well as the college dining halls which was where I did most of my work. But since I hate doing work at desks and stuff, I needed a router lol.

As of last fall, Old Campus rooms still needed a hardwire for a good connection. There is good tech support during move-in. Take advantage of the free advice and friendly people willing to help you get things working.

Thanks a lot! I’m gonna probably get a router for my suite. Though for my fellow 2013ers Yale did say that they’re gonna try to have wireless in all of Old Campus by this fall so hopefully that’ll be done.

Does anyone know if any of the outside spaces have wireless?

get your own router at Staples if they don’t have it by the time you arrive on campus. Even if they do eventually get it, you can bet that the old thick brick walls will make it hard to get reliable wifi.
