does berkeley or any of the UC's have wireless internet?

it is posted somewhere here that UCB has wireless internet. it might be on the dorm thread.

Berkeley has "Airbears" which is a campus wide.

http://airbears.berkeley.edu/

Airbears is continuing to expand into the City of Berkeley at locations where students hang out.

it looks like it has excellent coverage. about 75% of the buildings have access at some point.

seems very slow tho. only 11mbps. iv never used wireless before...is this fast for wireless?

it's normal. i'm on my laptop right now and mine is 11mbps. it's fast enough.

11mbps is slow for what standard?

T 1

wireless almost everywhere. beware of the distracting IM conversation in the middle of lecture.

as for speed, let's just say it's fast enough to multi-task should you have been too drunk to catch your favorite show last night.

of course this was a year ago. doesn't take long before bandwidth is sucked up at Cal.

I was told the Units are not wireless and are T-3

Well, I can get the AirBears reception from my dorm at U2. Though we do use the T3 LAN because it is much faster.

The wireless isn't bandwidth capped like the T3 line ...
