So I’m living in Cuarto residence halls… (Emmerson building) …it says that we should also bring " 25-foot Ethernet Cat-5 cable with RJ45 connector (to connect to the data-port)" …So it means that residence halls doesn’t have wireless? I have an laptop…so if I don’t bring the ethernet cable , I won’t be able to go to the internet?

The residence halls do have wireless (the name of the wireless is Resnetx), but it sucks terribly–when I lived in Cuarto (specifically Webster) last year, it was a miracle if I was able to stay connected to Resnetx for more than 10 seconds, and it was also unbearably slow due to the low signal strength. You can do what my suitemates and I did last year and get your own router and get wireless from there (just plug one end of the ethernet cable into the wall and the other end into your router).

Sopranokitty , so everyone brings their own ethernet cable…right? Or it is that you just connect one cable with the router and others can also enjoy the wireless internet in your suite?

Oh really? Can you tell the name of the router? Like what is it called? Wireless router or it has some specific name etc? Where can I find it? And ANY ethernet cable will go with it , right? Its not like you have to buy specific Ethernet cable for specific router etc?

I use a Linksys. My family finds them to be a reliable router. I heard Belkin routers work well, too. Just look up Linksys router on Amazon and pick one you like. I suggest the E1200. Good basic router for a dorm. A bit pricey but routers don’t come terribly cheap. Split the price if your suitemates want access. It’s around $50 if I remember. The models go up from there. And it comes with an ethernet cable.

Does anyone know if Kearney Hall in Tercero also has wireless? I checked the site where it said “wired (wireless coming soon)” so I’m not sure if it just hasn’t been updated or there really is none XD
