Wireless service

which cell phone services work best?

There was some article in the daily about it a while ago but I don't know how valid it was. It didn't say anything about Cingular being great but I have service with Cingular EVERYWHERE on campus except the bomb shelter that is Norris (no one gets service there)... just saying.

I second the Cingular recommendation. I made sure to get a non-flip phone (it's ugly, I know, but the reception is always better) and I have always, always had service. The article in the Daily said that Verizon was best, but I know no one with Verizon. There's a Cingular store in downtown Evanston if you ever need help with your phone, also.

My daughter has Verizon, and most of her friends do as well. They seem to get fairly good reception. She feels lucky that it works in her room though, so maybe it doesn't for everybody.

I have T-Mobile and visited NU during the summer. Not very good reception inside (by the windows/doors) but 2/3 bars outside. Didn't check in the dorms though :(

I have Sprint, and it works everywhere (even in some rare places in Norris!), including my dorm. :)

Sprint works best because there's actually a Sprint tower on campus. I have Verizon (as do most people I know), and it works pretty well.
