They are equally “bad”.

Ann Arbor and Madison both have cold winters, but I would say that Madison’s winters are slightly worse.

Okay, better in a sense that I have $1, and you have $1.01. We are equally poor.

What is a “worse” winter? It is my impression that Madison winters are sunnier than those in cities that get lake-effect conditions from the Great Lakes. Either way; winter is pretty much winter and you aren’t going to be spending much time outside anyway.

Not really sally. Ann Arbor has 185 cloudy days vs Madison’s 180. Hardly different. Madison’s winter lows are, on average, 6-7 degrees colder than Ann Arbor’s. Both have roughly the same number of cloudy/sunny days. To say that Ann Arbor has worse weather than Madison is incorrect, plain and simple. Both have cold winters. Those who cannot stand cold and gloomy weather should avoid both schools.

I didn’t say one was better or worse. I agree, though–anyone who can’t handle winter ought to look elsewhere.
