Your wisdom teeth are teeth in the very back of your mouth. Loads of people have them taken out because they crowd the rest of the teeth or (in my case) are causing a lot of pain. Mine were growing sideways and bending my other teeth roots. They were also under skin and bone, so the surgeon had me put under.

Well, today’s the big day! I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

Christ, I would rather have had them punched out of my mouth than surgically removed without anesthetic.

So, my wisdom teeth aren’t impacted. In fact, they’re all vertical, but I’m still being advised to get them removed because it’s a close fit (better safe than sorry). I have an extreme phobia of losing consciousness, so I’m only getting local anesthesia to numb my mouth. Will the procedure be bad? I’m fearless when it comes to being awake during the procedure, but I’m wondering how long it will be and how much pain I will feel…

Well it’s over and I survived. The whole thing was really weird… the pills and laughing gas basically made me forget everything! My more really hurts though! I don’t know why, but that had to cut part of my gum and it’s really uncomfortable.

Well, thanks for the support everyone! It was a piece of cake.

^ And if you can’t tell from the typos I was still pretty doped up XD

How are you now? Are your gums still bleeding?

They’re still bleeding a little bit, but not too much. The pain meds make the pain very manageable. It’s gross and uncomfortable but not nearly as bad as I expected.

Would you say that the pain is bearable enough for studying and taking tests?

Definitely. When I’ve taken the Ibuprofen I only ever really feel pain if I open my mouth too wide or if I overexert myself. However, I know everyone is different and some people experience more pain than others (especially if you get dry socket.) But for me, I’m pretty much fine.

The only thing is that you’ll probably want to sleep a lot right afterwards. I pretty much slept all of yesterday and I took a long nap today. Oh, and I’m a bit swollen and don’t feel like going out in public.

Glad to hear it went well!

Thanks stradmom!

Oh, and apparently all four of my wisdom teeth actually were mildly impacted. I didn’t think they could be impacted if they were coming in, but I guess I was wrong. I would definitely advise anyone getting their wisdom teeth out to be put to sleep if they have the option. I don’t remember much, but I slightly recollect them cracking a tooth into pieces… ew.
