yea you are in..hey you go to IVC..me too!!

damn...how come business major have such high GPA comparing to science major...is it b/c the classes are easier or wut?..i'm jealous...

^just wondering fei, what makes u so sure he will get in? im asking this cuz im 3.8 gpa and applying to berkeley econ as well

i read along somewhere on the web that the average GPA for transfer to berkeley is 3.75...but i believe if you are trying to get into HAAS (however you spell it) business program, they only accept a few students last semester...so good luck...

lilomui..heh dunno 3.9 is a very high GPA.

At my cc there are a lot of econ/business classes ( a lot different teachers), while there are a few science classes and few teachers, only two o-chem classes. When there a lot of teachers, there is a higher chance u'll find one thats relatively easy. So, yeah CCCT, at my cc doing anything other than science is easier.

The GPA has to be put in context. Was this in an honors program at your cc? The good UC programs state a strong preference for cc students in honors program. It also depends if economics is an impacted major, which I don't know at UCB. At Haas, most 4.0s are rejected. That said, a 3.9 is a great GPA obviously, but talk to the school, or go on the web site to learn what it has takes to get in. The numbers are there.

Econ is impacted and is one of the hardest majors to get into. Its arrogant to assume that you are guaranteed in.

here you go:

Question: How many students are accepted into the program? What is the average GPA of admitted students?
Answer: Admission to the Haas Undergraduate Program is highly competitive. We admit 8-11% of transfer applicants and 40-50% of continuing UC Berkeley applicants. The average GPA for admitted transfer students is 3.70 - 3.80. The average GPA for continuing UC Berkeley students is 3.40 3.60.
