I wanted to know what you guys who are planning on majoring in International Relations plan on doing with your degree? I am considering in majoring in Political Science with emphasis on International Relations. Is that the same thing that you guys are talking about? Also, what is the difference between a Political Science degree in Ir as compared to a Policy Studies degree in IR? I think that I want to become a foreign service officer or something like that, so that is why I would want to learn about IR. What about you guys? How does someone get into the CIA? I think that I read some where that some FSOs go on to work for the CIA. Does that sound right? Also, is going to graduate school for International Relations or any political science degree worth it? What are the benefits of getting a master's degree?

anyone have anything to add?

I know that a whole bunch of people are interested in International Relations, so can someone give me some guidance, please?

I think you are probably asking some questions for which there are no clear answers. If you want to work as a foreign service officer than you have to take the state department foreign service exam at some point. Any of the degree opitons you mentioned would probably prepare you adequately for that exam from an academic standpoint although other prep for that exam is usually necessary. Do ex FSO's go to work for the CIA? Probably and some FSO's are really CIA. I am not sure what guidance you are looking for so perhaps you could be more specific in your next post.
