With my GPA, can I tranfer to UCLA or UCSD? PLEASE HELP!

I'm a cc student, and I want to transfer to UCLA or UCSD. I applied to both schools.

UCLA-Major:Business Econ major
Alternative major: Econ
UCSD-Major: Management Sci
Alternative major: Econ

My GPA including 2010 fall semester is 3.67...

I applied TAG for UCSD.
I know that 3.67 isn't very high.. but is there slight chance that I can get into UCLA? A possibility??

One more question.. I just quit one of my two jobs, but in application, I put I work two jobs.. Do they check if I still work or not? How about community service at church? Do they check on you literally?

Please help me!

well you lost your job. you got documentation, so don’t worry
but yeah, 3.67 might be too low

Too low for UCSD too? or just UCLA…

I think you are fine for UCSD since you applied for TAG

UCSD - you’re in.
UCLA - denied (you’re chance of getting in are very, very slim).

And they’ll look at your EC’s but it won’t mean too much.

I agree with the above posters; you’re very likely in at UCSD and likely denied at UCLA. Business Econ is just very competitive. You’d have probably had a shot at UCLA under another major.

Can I change my major now?

Which majors are less competitive?

^^ I don’t think you can change your major anymore because the application deadline has already past. Maybe if you call the admissions office for UCLA and claim you just came to the realization you made a mistake on your application; you may be able to still change it. However, it’s been over two weeks since the application deadline I’m not sure what other deadlines they have for correcting the original application.

Actually, you can still change your major for UCLA!
I got this in my email confirmation from UCLA:
"If you want to change your major after you have submitted your application, contact us with your request. Majors cannot be changed after the dates indicated below:

<a href="http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/applicant/changes.htm">http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/applicant/changes.htm</a>"</p>

Hope this works!!!

UCLA your gpa is a little low, but not horrible. They don’t do like a thorough investigation on you about if you have your other job or not. Business/econ is very competitive, but there is still a chance that you can get in.

UCSD you’re in for sure.

Thank you so much everyone.
I still have one more question…

So I applied TAG and there has been few changes in my planned courses.
On TAG, I put 5 courses for planned courses on spring semseter and one of them taking in other college. But I decided to drop one class(doesn’t affect my IGETC or major)and take all the courses in my college.
Of course, on my application, I put down changed planned courses.

So my question is should I let them know about TAG is different from application?
And if so, how do I do that?

Just tell them in the January update. I’ve made quite a few course changes as well and, from my understanding, It won’t matter as long as you have the units, the courses you change aren’t major prep courses or needed for IGETC AND you tell them!

Explain your situation in the January update re: your classes.

As for your chances, I think your chances are good for UCSD, but UCLA Biz Econ is as you know, super competitive, so chances are much much lower.

You will get into ucsd for sure. So don’t worry about ucsd. Hey but is it true that we can still change our major at ucla? WOW I never knew that… but we can’t change our essay about our major. that’s the problem ):

Woah, I want to get into UCLA biz econ, and this thread is a bit discouraging. How can 3.6 not give u a good chance at UCLA? That’s a really good gpa.

If someone with the same exact stats, but was TAP certified, how much better would their chances be?

A 3.6 is good but from what I’ve read and heard, it’s definitely not good enough for UCLA. And that’s especially true for business-related majors: the average GPA of admits is usually 3.8+, very competitive. Then again there are exceptions to every rule so I guess you can still try.

The average GPA for Bus Econ is like 3.95 so I doubt you’ll get in. If you like Math you should consider Econ-Math as it’s less competitive.

update for this thread, how did the transfer turn out? did u get into both ucsd and ucla?
